Could Fantasia Barrino Overdose Be Caused by Sextape and Divorce Scandal?

Fantasia Barrino's overdose is hot in the rumor mills. Could Fantasia's OD be the result of the sextape and divorce scandal that she's involved in? The cycle 3 American Idol winner has been openly in the news recently, after she was named in divorce proceedings. There are allegations that she has a sextape with a married man, and under North Carolina law, there's a distinct possibility that she could be sued.

So not only does Fantasia Barrino have to worry about legal woes, spend money on an attorney and defend her name - she has to deal with a constant barrage of criticism from everyone from the mainstream media to bloggers to users who comment on blogs. It's not a situation I would be jealous of.

Could the whole scenario be enough to make her snap? According to the Huffington Post, that is exactly what happened.

Brian Dickens, Barrino's manager, issued a statement yesterday which said that his client was "overwhelmed by the lawsuit and the media attention" and that "Last night, Fantasia was hospitalized. She took an overdose of aspirin and a sleep aid. Her injuries are not life threatening. She was dehydrated and exhausted at the time."

This is supposed to be a good time for the singer. She's due to release a new album on August 24^th. She had a reality TV show on VH1 earlier this year (Fantasia For Real), and has even been on Broadway.

However, she's been involved with a married man that allegedly told her he was unhappy in his marriage. While he is getting divorced, the whole thing is going to be ugly and Fantasia will be smack dab in the middle of it.

Paula Cook, the wife of Barrino's alleged lover, could just be using this opportunity and timing to sabotage Fantasia. Then again, there are many who applaud the controversial North Carolina law which allows spouses to sue paramours, and wish that the laws were present everywhere. These people say you pay to play, and the cost is just higher for some than others.

In some respects, I feel for Fantasia Barrino. I have a feeling she was wooed by a smooth talker. Then again, she made decisions and if the allegations are correct - and there is a sextape - hopefully she learned some valuable lessons.
