Live-Action
The pros of a live action based would be the audience attraction. There are fans that would like to see how they would look in person. While Link and Zelda would not be much of a problem at all, the other item would be the costumes and that's usually not too bad. One of the major cons could possibly be done with not being able to present the franchise in the right context. The characters may not look as accurate as they could possibly be based upon playing the games. That could be one of the drawbacks to that and to add to that, maybe the effects won't work out as well.
CG
Looking at one of the pros would be that it would pretty much while the characters would look close to real life, they could come across as how they are presented in the games. The graphics would of course look like it could compare to what can be seen on a PS3 or even further. Graphics wise, it would work out but of course like always there's drawbacks. One of the major drawbacks could be that it could look too artificial. There is also that audience that doesn't like that particular style and may not bother to go see it.
Anime
This however could be perhaps one of the most logical choices. The TV show was animated but in a sense, it'd be more of anime base like how some Japanese anime shows are like. With that sense, the art of graphically drawing out the characters would not be much of a major issue as it could be done properly. The only drawback that it could possibly have would be the audience factor. To put it bluntly, there are those that like anime and those that don't.
Who should be In Charge of Supervision?
Unlike the Super Mario Bros. movie, this one however could possibly work out differently than before. Analyzing the situation, it would be obvious to have the man that created the Legend of Zelda video games, Mr. Miyamoto, involved in either a Supervisor or possibly a producer. The plot itself would need to resemble that of the games themselves taking place in Hyrule. Ideas with it could be origins in more detail about how Ganondorf came to be evil or more stories about the Triforce and how it came about. Thinking closely about it, the whole never-ending of a young boy named Link out to rescue the Princess of Hyrule, Zelda and perhaps a friendship or more develops as time goes on. It could have love but also mix in the action and perhaps some comedy as well. Knowing full well that Link has never talked, perhaps it could open the door for him to have a voice.
Ending Result: Can it be a Successful Movie? In this world, anything is possible. With the right people in charge and of course the acting has to be there, it could become a great movie and could shatter a trend of the movie to game and game to movie curse that supposedly exists. The thought could work but could also be used as a way of bridging a gap between each of the Zelda games that were developed by Nintendo. In the end, it could very well become a major hit and could expand The Legend of Zelda into something major in not just the game world but in other forms of media. It is one of the most recognized franchises to exist in gaming for 20 years. There is no movie yet but it is interesting to think about.

Post a CommentI think it should be anime, and based on the mangas.
i agree, this could really blow people away, bring in new fans, really get young kids excited, and open up the possibility to ahve a pokemon like franchise network, toys, games, burgerking mcdonalds promotionals, the works. why not? well... probably cause nintendo plans on going bankrupt over their shitty game lineup for the wii... still, this could redeem them if they do it right. i'm so dissapointed in you guys (Nintendo) and maybe this could bring you back. pretty soon you'll be another Sega. And that is unnacceptable for the first gaming company. Sisgusting.... and, well, i'd really hate to raise kids without your child friendly selections such as mario and zelda titles... think about it... for the old school fans, for your company's future, for the world.
If you look on youtube.com and look at the video flick of what IGN made that can give you an idea of what the zelda movie could be based on Ocarina of Time or the Twilight in a better and new form. I have been a zelda fan since the early nintendo times and even now. We need a movie that would complete not just the game serious but this is a great opportunity to bring a fresh and new look into the Zelda world. We are almost in the year 2010 and its time to upgrade. A Zelda movie would be the best approach like the Lord of the Rings or something like. If a Zelda movie should be done, make this a worthy movie and allow special directors to direct this the right way like James Camron or someone good.
If a Legend of Zelda movie is made, it should be live action. The trilogy set that I've created is for a broad range of audiences, but mainly for the older people. It's like Lord of the Rings, the kids love it for its fantasy and high intense action, and the older generations will love it for its grand story and how well it sticks to the L.O.Z. time line and history.
A Legend of Zelda movie is very possible. I have been interested in writing and directing movies and I have printed out about 10 pounds worth of Hyrulian history, which I have used to write a trillogy set for the Legend of Zelda. It's perfect!
It would be really cool to see a Live action movie doen right.
Have Link as Chase Crawford though hahah! I mean really he looks like him so much *nod* but Please if anything Link would be played by a guy!
Personally, I am very curious as to how well a movie could be produced, and I wouldn't mind knowing exactly what drove Ganondorf to the dark side. I am not sure how the producers would go about giviing Link an actual voice, since he has yet to say anything during the games, and I think it would be a long debate.
However, perhaps it would be best to try the animated series again. This time, in Anime fashion, and base the movie on the context of the show. If the producers can make a better series first, it would provide excellent support for a full-length film.
it should be computer animated not real-life
Great article with an interesting topic. I think it is possible to make this movie and have good reviews. Kids would probably love it. I use to love playing Zelda on the original Nintendo and may have on Super Nintendo (if they made it for that system). I have not played Zelda games since then, but would be interested in a movie of Zelda! It would be interesting to see who would get cast for such roles.
very interesting article, i think a live ation movie would be pretty sweet...do it up braveheart/gladiator style...very dark and graphic...but then again...that could stray from the original context of the game. It would be interesting to see how they'd do it!
