If you are like most women, even most men, you would love to find a cure for your wrinkles. You would like to prevent them before more arrive and you would like a real treatment option, for the ones you have. In general, you just don't want to see any wrinkles on your face period. This is why mos to fus have your own fair share of "so called" magical potions in our homes. However, most of us haven't found the cure, yet. Now some researchers are saying that soy-based makeup and beauty products may help in the fight against wrinkles.
Soy? Yes, this is the same soy that can be found in soy milk. This is also the soy that can be found in those soy burgers that nutritionists tell us we should be eating instead of those greasy hamburgers.
The popular website known as Web.md recently did an article stating that soy could be a magical cure for preventing wrinkles. The article stated the soy was derived a bit differently than it is when it is food based. This type of soy is known as a genistein or a soy isoflavone. It is often found in moisturizers and in night creams. This type of soy can help brighten the skin, decrease redness, boost collagen, and even improve one's skin tone.
Since these soy products may have the topical benefits some women and men may want, they may then wonder should they increase their overall soy food intake or even take soy supplements. A recent study was done in Japan that centered on postmenopausal women who took soy supplements. The study did show a small significant improvement in the appearance of the woman's crow's feet around the eyes, while taking the supplement. The wrinkles seem to get a bit smaller. However, the study was done only a small level and was only given for a short term period. This means that there is no real proof that these supplements will have a lasting effect on the wrinkles or that they will work on a large percentage of postmenopausal woman or aging men.
Doctors and other researchers have further stated that there are risks associated with taking soy supplements on a long term basis, especially for post menopausal women, including vaginal bleeding. Many doctors have also warned breast cancer patients to limit the amount of soy in their diets.
Overall most Americans have a great deal of soy in their diets. They just do not always realize this fact because the soy is an additive to a lot of the processed foods that they eat. This means that most Americans are already eating a good bit of soy. For this reason, it doesn't seem that we need to add soy to our diet for beauty purposes.
However, we may want to consider purchasing beauty products that contain soy. If these products are applied topically, they may still have the ability to reduce wrinkles.
When shopping for soy based ingredients, look for at the list of ingredients. Check for the terms: soy, genistein or soy isoflavone. Who knows this may be the magical ingredient that can help make you look younger and more vibrant.
