Well, that would be a very scary thought. At least for most of us. Those of you who have survival training would fair very well. And, the hunters, fishermen, gardeners and farmers will now turn out to be the most wanted. Or, what I call the necessary people. And, don't forget about the herbalist and the healers. The horse would probably be our mode of transportation. And, the pigeon will be our message carriers.
This scenario brings out many issues to the front line. First, have we become so technology addicted that we forgot what a simple conversation is with another human being? Oh, and I feel sorry for those that will be going through techno gadget withdrawals if that were to happen.
And, what about our environment. Is it too far gone? Is it too polluted from the factories spewing out black smoke into the air. And the water. I believe only about 1 or 2 percent is truly pure natural water. That's what I have been told by someone who worked at a water company. I hope he is wrong.
Are we so lazy that we can't get up at the crack of dawn and manually plow the garden to grow our food? Can you wash your clothes in a bucket of water? Could you take a bath in a lake? Will you chop down a tree for fire wood? Oh, I almost forgot. We would also need candle makers for light. But do you see where I am going with this?
Not to say that technology has changed us in a bad way. Some of us are living a totally independent life because of technology. It gives us speech for those that are non verbal. It gives us a way to communicate for those of us who are unable to communicate in a traditional way. Yes, for those individuals it is a long time coming. And, I look forward to see the new technology coming forth for them. And, if the power and electric would cease to be right now. Then, for those it would be devastating. For them, power and electricity is very necessary.
Or, maybe those of you who are out there would get your opportunitty to develop an alternative energy that dosn't rely on power or electric. Wouldn't that be something. And, yes I'm aware that some of you have already been using alternative energies for some time now. All of you would be very important necessary people. That would change everything. It would be like a new revelation.
It seems to me that we need to create a middle ground somehow. Technology is good but we should not forget about our environment, land, farmers, animals and old fashioned conversation. If we continue at this rate, someday maybe we will only talk with our minds through telepathy and a gadget attached to our bodies. That gadget will send a signal to a main source to automatically think for us and tell us how we should live our lives. Could you imagine.
Even though that scenario would probably never happen. I'd still get to know a few of those necessary people just in case.
Its something for you to think about. Just my opinion. I think I'll go fishing tomorrow.

Post a CommentI like the way you think. Hey, catch a rainbow trout for me! Those are my favorite... right out of the stream and into a hot pan. (My Dad taught me as a young child.) I am adding you to my faves. =) Keep on writing!
