Could it Be Syesha We See as the Next American Idol?

Does she have what it takes to take it all the way? Syesha Mercado has been somewhat of an enigma. The Diana Ross-ish Syesha has such a powerful voice and each week most of her performance is pretty strong, however, there is usually some part of her performance that seems to be off, like she is unsure of herself.

She is very gracious when listening to the judges critique and presents her "ear to ear" smile each time she is on stage, but there seems to be something missing. She did show a side of herself last night that she hadn't shown previously, that she can have fun and that she actually does enjoy being on stage. She seems to be tense and restricted. If she could just relax and belt out the songs with that big ol' voice, as Randy calls it, she could very well be in the top two and take it all the way. But there would have to be some changes in her and she doesn't have much time left to do that.

Maybe it's that she is ok with being on the stage but not so comfortable with herself, almost like she is holding back because of a lack of confidence or insecurity. I don't know that she can pull it off if she continues her performances with a cruise ship aura about her.

Syesha will have to do some incredible things in the next performance to keep her chances of being this year's next American Idol a possibility. But this year has been one of surprises.

Her top contender would have to be David Archuleta. Each week he comes out to a chorus of screams and each week he performs as though he owns that stage. He will be tough to beat.

This may just end up being a popularity contest after all, because this year, there are some real potentials, and Syesha is one of them.
