Could There Be a Cure for Breast Cancer in the Near Future?
Breast Cancer May Soon Be a Thing of the Past
The answer is no. There is no positive cure for it, at least not yet. But scientists think they are getting closer. Dr. Larry Norton, MD at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center was quoted as saying; "A girl born today may not have to worry about breast cancer in her future." That is how sure he is that we will soon have a cure for cancer.
What do we do now? We start paying attention to our diet, foremost. We need to eat the right foods. Some researchers believe that we need to increase our Vitamin D intake. Some believe it needs to be increased to up 1,000 mg a day.
Researchers and doctors also believe that we need to get as much of our vitamins in the way of real food, not just supplements. And if we are taking supplements we need to take in consideration of the food we eat as well or we may overdose on them.
What else can we do to prevent cancer?
Get enough sleep. If we can 8 to 9 hours of sleep is great for our body. It needs time to rest and refuel. Many of us our punishing our bodies daily from lack of sleep.
Lower your fat intake.
Loose weight, if necessary. We know being overweight is not healthy, period. If we are trying to beat or avoid cancer loosing weight will help.
Don't eat a lot of sugars and refined carbohydrates.
Don't consume a lot of cola drinks. They have acid in them and cancer thrives in acidic environments.
And most important of all, don't smoke. Even inhaling cigarettes for a few years can lead to cancer. Every cigarette you light is one more chance cancer has to strike. It is estimated that one-third of cancers are due to smoking.
Why do researchers believe that someday cancer will be cured? They believe this because many of us are listening and taking the early tests, before symptoms arises. Some of us are doing this because we know cancer runs in our families and some of us are just trying to do the responsible thing. This early diagnosis gives us more time to fight and survive. We also have better treatments and therapies. These treatments are being studied and with time will become better and better.
Researchers are betting that soon a vaccine for cancer will be in our near future. Plus, even better news is that with every little progress we make in the fight against cancer may in turn help us fight heart diseases. Many of the cures could be linked together.
So what do we do in the meantime? Keep making smart choices. Keep reading and learning about cancer prevention, treatment and cures. And for those of us who can, keep helping to fund research.
Plus, praying couldn't hurt either.
I hope Dr. Norton is right. I hope those little girls that are born today and tomorrow won't face the fear of breast cancer. Plus, if breast cancer is cured, other cancers will be close to being cured as well. Now that would be a bright future.
