When the radio station, "Young Country 105.3 FM," went off the air, I began to listen to the country music radio station, "99.5 FM The Wolf." Aside from the animal noises of the "wolf howl," which I'm sure some people liked, I liked the mix of new and old "Texas" country. That's where I heard of country singers such as Pat Green for the first time. Some of the best contemporary country music as well as some from recent years plays on that station with the edge of a "Texas" slant.
From there, I moved on to the oldest and most established country station that I know of in the Dallas area which is "96.3 KSCS." Their claim to fame is playing "all the best country- not just some of it." One could hear anything from an old Alabama tune to the latest by Rascal Flatts. It is a good combination of old and new country. It is a family friendly format with the locally well known morning show, the Dorsey Gang, which has podcasts of their shows on their website, www.kscs.com. There is a Saturday night show with "the Trooper" that plays classic country tunes.
The youthful station with a "twist" that I mainly listen to now is, "96.7 The Texas Twister." It plays the best of the newest country music geared toward the younger generation. However, there is no age limit on enjoying listening to this station. I heard Taylor Swift and Sarah Buxton both for the first time on this station. Sarah Buxton wrote Keith Urban's song, "Stupid Boy," from his latest album, "Love, Pain, and the whole crazy thing."
All three of these stations have different merits of their own and I enjoy all of them to various degrees. It is the mood at the time which draws one to a certain station. Do you want to hear mainly home grown Texas music? Listen to 99.5 FM the Wolf. Do you want to listen to family oriented music that plays the older stuff as well as some of the new country music? Listen to 96.3 KSCS. Do you want to listen to country music for a "young and hip" crowd? Listen to 96.7 the Texas Twister.
Dallas has some of the best country music in Texas. Even if you are out of the area, you can listen to some of their music streamed online. Whether you are living in Dallas, TX or have the Internet with sound on your own computer, you can enjoy some good country music.

Post a CommentI have listened to all the radio stations for a period of time that I recommended in this article. I did want to announce here that I recommend KSCS 96.3 the highest out of all the country music radio stations I've listened to. You can listen to them online at www.kscs.com and they have this promotional program called the "supertanker game" where you can play the supertanker game to win possibly thousands of dollars in free gas. And really! Who doesn't need free gas with the gas prices now! Check out KSCS today! Oh and they have great Texas country :-)
