Country Music Won't Miss the Dixie Chicks

TM
It is being reported that the Dixie Chicks will split up after the Grammy awards and for most country music fans that will be a relief. Natalie Maines has been very vocal in her distaste not only for President Bush and the Iraq war but also for some icons in country music such as Reba McIntire and Toby Keith.

Martie Maquire and Emily Robinson has claimed that they are leaving to focus on great mothers but the inside scuttle butt says they are just tired of being on the receiving end of the hate mail, death threats and career destroying backlash caused by Maines habit of sticking her foot in all of their mouths.

The sisters are being referred to as being the passive; they are tired of standing back and supporting Natalie Maines while she does more and more damage to the Dixie Chicks with her big mouth. Country music fans have long memories and the sisters simply walking away from Maines and the Dixie Chicks will not be enough to help them sell CD's in the future if they decide to branch out on their own. The average country music fan is a hard working man or woman and plunking down twenty dollars for a CD or fifty plus dollars for a concert ticket takes a chunk out of their budget, they must feel not only the music but the artist as well. One would be hard pressed to find a military family member who doesn't have American Soldier and Please Come Home Soon in the CD player in their car as well as their IPOD, these songs are more than some music that reminds them of their lives and why they do what they do, it is a part of their souls and who they are. They feel every single note of those songs and expect those that they spend money buying will feel them as well.

Between Natalie Maines not knowing when to shut up and the Passive Sister not knowing when to speak up the Dixie Chicks are best splitting up and finding a job with away from country music because country doesn't want them or need them. While a country music fans are a forgiving bunch of people as they realize being human means making mistakes they also expect others to take responsibility for their mistakes and learn from those same mistakes. The Dixie Chicks fail to either take responsibility or learn from their mistakes in fact they simply keep making bigger mistakes as they alienate even the most loyal fans.

Country music is filled with imperfect people but they are also very loyal people, you can get away with a great deal but never insult their heroes. The Dixie Chicks didn't claim to be bigger than God but they failed to appreciate those that gave them the right to shoot off their mouths without being coined a traitor. No country music is unlikely to miss the Dixie Chicks and you can bet the American Soldier will be happy to see Toby and Reba take up the slack. No, country music fans don't care if the Dixie Chicks stay together or break up the only thing they care about is that the Dixie Chicks do mean it when they say they are breaking up and hopefully they will go away for good and don't let the door hit them on the way out. Lot's of luck Martie and Emily; you failed to step up to the plate when you should have, don't count on country welcoming you back now that you have gotten tired of Natalie and her mouth.

"(which I proudly bought 20 of")

Well of course you did. Everyone knows the chicks sales have been inflated by fans and politcal hacks buying mulitple copies as a form of retribution. You can look at their 14 canceled US concerts and see that!

As for your claims that they are banned by country radio. Well that is just more lies on their part, and yours.
The below link is an article from Radio & Records showing the lengths of deception the chicks went to to convince everyone, yourself included, of that lie.

As for the National Enquirer not being a reliable source. Did you know that they broke the Monica Lewinsky/ Bill Clinton sex story? Or are you one of those people who still believe her never had sexual relations with that woman? If the Enquirer says they have a "Source", they more than liekly do. Now the question is, will the chicks AGAIN lie to their fans, or will the finally come clean? My money is on more lies.

    Hmmm.... Where to begin?

I guess I'll start out with the fact that the Chicks ARE NOT breaking up, probably much to the dismay of some. Watch the Chicks new documentary, Shut Up and Sing. I think the heart-felt display of sisterhood that exists between them will lay to rest any stories of a disbanding. By the way, know the source of this "break-up" story?

    The National Enquirer.

As for the Chicks future, they did sell 1.9 million copies of Taking the Long Way (which I proudly bought 20 of), more than either Keith or McIntyre, completed a $30 million tour (which I was proudly a part of), and 5 Grammy nominations (GO CHICKS!!!!). Immensely successful considering Country radio banned their tour ads and refused to play their music.

As for the controversy you speak of, you seem to have forgotten some of the comments made and actions taken by those so-called "icons". Reba has made several negative comments at country awards shows about the Chicks to the disgusting approval

I think you may be overdramatizing their break.

The constant scrutiny has got to be hard -- with or without the ocntroversy.

All of the girls have the exact same position, they probably just, like most people, would prefer to go through life not having anyone know what they think.
