Rodney Atkins to Perform on Louisville Waterfront on April 30th

"These are my people," sings country music star Rodney Atkins, in his hit single (with the same title). And Kentucky Derby fans will likely agree.

Tennessee-born chart-blaster Rodney Atkins (41) will headline the Kentucky Derby Eve Jam in Louisville, Kentucky, on Friday, April 30th.

Sponsored by Kentucky Proud, the Kentucky Derby Eve Jam concert is part of the fourth annual Kroger's Fest-a-Ville on the Waterfront, held the night before the traditional Kentucky Derby thoroughbred horse race at Louisville's Churchill Downs racetrack. Kroger's Fest-a-Ville on the Waterfront includes concerts, children's activities, concessions and other attractions.

The Kentucky Derby week event, a highlight of Kentucky Derby Festival Week, takes place at Waterfront Park, in downtown Louisville.

"We're thrilled that Kentucky Proud is bringing country music superstar Rodney Atkins to entertain the audience at another Derby Eve Jam concert," commented Mike Berry, president and chief executive officer of the Kentucky Derby Festival. "Rodney is one of the hottest country music acts in the country, and his show will offer a wonderful way to close out Derby Week."

"Kentucky Proud is pleased to continue our involvement with the Kentucky Derby Festival, part of the state's biggest weekend," added Richie Farmer, Kentucky's Commissioner of Agriculture. "I'm excited about the concert, and I invite all of Kentucky to attend."

Louisville radio stations New Country Q103.1 and Country Legends 103.9 are contributing sponsors for the Kentucky Derby Eve Jam.

Rodney Atkins' most popular songs include "Cleaning This Gun - Come on in Boy," "Honesty Write Me a List," "If You're Going Through Hell - Before the Devil Even Knows," "Invisibly Shaken," "It's America," "Sing Along," "These Are My People" and "Watching You."

Country singer Candy Coburn, of Kentucky, will be the opening act, performing before Rodney Atkins. The concert is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. Candy Coburn's most popular songs include "Don't Walk Away," "Pink Warrior" (a breast cancer awareness anthem), "Rev It Up" and "Rockin' a Mile a Minute."

This year, Rodney Atkins and Candy Coburn join the ranks of such Derby Eve Jam performers as Aerosmith, The Allman Brothers Band, Canned Heat, Foreigner, Hall and Oates, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and ZZ Top. Last year, Gavin DeGraw entertained the Kentucky Derby Eve crowd.

Admission to the Kentucky Derby Eve Jam is a 2010 Pegasus Pin. The Pegasus Pins are expected to go on sale at more than 1,000 banks and retail locations throughout the Louisville area in mid-March.
