All these features are old news for anyone who has played one of the many social games that have been introduced on Facebook the past year or so. Just like the core game itself, Country Story again goes one step further that the competition.
A new key element to managing your relationships in Country Story is friend points. Friend points are a measure of how close you are to your neighbours. This is not a brand new concept, for people who play YoVille for example, this will sound familiar. You can increase your friend points by giving your neighbours gifts that are worth at least 100 coins. Unfortunately, you can only increase your friendships by 10 points a day, meaning it will take daily gifting to get anywhere. Your friendship points will increase by 1 for every 100 coins the gifts are worth, so the most efficient way to build up the friendship points is to gift items that cost exactly 1000 coins.
One of the most challenging quests you will face in Country Story required you have 15 friends with a friendship score of 100. If you are focused on what you need to do though, that quest doesn't have to be a huge hurdle. The first step is to get 15 friends to begin with, if you don't already know 15 people that play Country Story, there are websites created to help you find other Facebookers who are looking for Country Story friends.
The key to building up friendship points quickly is to start a re-gifting program. Unlike real life, your neighbors will love your gift even if it's clearly the same gift they gave you just 20 minutes ago. Every day, make sure you give all your friends a small gift, if you don't have enough money to buy 15 gifts, wait until your gifts are returned, and give them to someone else. When you send a gift for friend point purposes, just include a short message that the gift is for friends points, and please return it. Make sure the gift is lavish enough to score you 10 friend points every time it is given.
In Country Story, you can also request help from your friends. If you have a certain friendship level, you can click on the neighbors icon on your farm, and select the fields you want help with. This can be a great way of tending to your crops if you won't be able to log in to the game for a while. If you plant your seeds and water, you can request one of your neighbors to tend to your crops. They will then automatically keep your fields watered and also harvest the crops when they become ripe. Keep in mind though that forcing your neighbors to work on your farm kills a lot of friendship points. Apparently your friends love receiving gifts, but are not too excited about being forced to do your manual labor.
Having your friends help out with your crops will be required to finish one of the quests, but once that quest is done, don't use your friends to harvest your crops until you've finished the 15 perfect friends quests. To finish that quest you will need all the friends points you can get your hands on, so don't waste them on work you could do yourself.
Managing friendships and relationships in Country Story takes more planning and care than in most other social games, but if you follow these tips you 'll be the most popular neighbor in town in no time.
