Couples Make Mad Dash for 7/7/07

Seven still seems to be a very lucky number for some people. With the soon to be famous, July 7, 2007 quickly approaching, couples all over the world are panicking to reserve the date for their upcoming weddings.

History has proven June and July to be the most sought after months for planned marriages. Knowing this it is not too hard to understand why the connection between the world's luckiest number and the perfect month to get married has created, no pun intended, a marriage of convenience.

Wedding planners, hotel operators, travel agencies and catering companies are over booked and understaffed for the unexpected mad dash. Couples who thought ahead planned weddings years ago to fall on this special date and unlike a visit to your family physician, once the best are booked, you will have to move on, there will be no fitting you in.

Kathleen Murray, deputy editor for theknot.com, a wedding planning website says, "We have more than 31,000 weddings planned for that day when typically on a Saturday in July, the most popular month for weddings, we have about 12,000 weddings taking place. This is the biggest day I've seen in recent years."

Las Vegas, one of the countries top spots for instant marriages is bracing themselves for the overwhelming need this date will be placing on the services provided by the city. Already deemed the marriage capital of the world, Las Vegas expects some huge numbers of couples and is changing hours of operation to fit in all the weddings.

One of the most famous chapels, Graceland Wedding Chapel, is already solidly booked from 8:00 A.M. until midnight, with ceremonies being completed about every 15 minutes.

Other businesses are catching onto the excitement by offering special packages for newlyweds. The Ritz-Carlton for instance is offering two packages, one for $7707 and one for $777, they are calling the specials the "Lucky 7's Package."

Erica Pope of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Center says, "People gravitate toward any date like this that is memorable and of course, this being a gaming city, 777 has connotations of good luck. I think people will be excited to say they got married on 777 in Las Vegas."

Late planners are not the only ones finding it hard to book caterers and venues, one couple who started planning their wedding two years ago, followed their wedding plan to the "T." The trouble is, according to the plan, now is the time to find a florist and DJ. With all the last minute bookings taking place, they are now unable to find anyone to fill these spots.

Wedding planners everywhere are giving one great piece of advice. You cannot let this struggles taint your day, try being creative with your solutions and make sure you enjoy every minute of it.
