Coupon Clipping to Relieve Recession Stress

In a tight economy, like we have right now, every dollar saved makes a big impact on the family budget. Other than simply cutting back on the things that you would ordinarily buy, another way to relieve recession stress and make every dollar count is the old tradition of clipping coupons.

Many people today can remember their mothers clipping coupons out of the Sunday newspaper before going to the stores to buy groceries or other products the family needed. Today it seems that few people take the time to actively clip coupons to stretch the family budget. They might use a coupon here and there, if the coupon was easy to find and use, but they don't do the kind of coupon saving that the last generation practiced as a routine.

It's easy to get into this habit though, and it really can help your family get much more value from every dollar spent on the necessities.

Try starting out with food coupons. Most people are surprised to learn that they can save $100 or even more each week simply by taking coupons to the store with them. When you combine those coupons with the weekly-advertised sales every grocery store has, you can see even more savings. Just think what an extra $100 in your weekly family budget would mean for your life.

Finding coupons is a lot easier than most people think too. They come in the mail all the time, and we simply throw them in the trash without even considering the fact that we are really throwing money away if the coupons are for things we intend to buy anyways.

There are more coupons to be had very easily in the daily newspaper. Sunday is the big day for coupons, but you are likely to find them in every day's edition. There just won't be as many of them on the other days.

One thing that gives us an advantage over previous generations is that there are also many sites on the Internet that publish printable coupons. There are even entire sites that are devoted just to presenting coupons that you can print out and take to the store with you to save on your purchases.

You can locate these coupon sites by searching in Google, and you can even search for a specific coupon by searching for the product name with the word coupon added to it.

One thing you need to remember is that coupons have expiration dates, and once the date is gone, the coupon is no good. Be sure to keep them where you can use them and remember to take them with you when you go shopping.
