Court TV Announces New Series: "Bounty Girls Miami"

Watch out, Duane "Dog" Chapman. Court TV is taking on the little-known world of female bounty hunters with its new series, "Bounty Girls Miami," premiering Aug. 9 at 9 p.m. Eastern.

This new 9-episode reality series focuses on the employees of Miami's Sunshine State Bail Bonds Agency. With direction from agency owner Jim Viola, the company's four female bounty hunters - Jag, Gloria, Jade and Clyde - hunt down fugitives using their criminal justice expertise. Each team member contributes something different to the effort: Jag, the team leader, has 18 years of bounty hunting experience under her belt, while Gloria is a computer expert. Clyde, a US Marine, has the skills to perform risky takedowns when necessary. Finally, Jade - the youngest of the team - is an expert at using tasers and batons to apprehend criminals.

A clip of the show on the Court TV website opens with the line, "Whoever said it was a man's world never met these girls." The promotional video shows all four women working together to arrest fugitives, with Clyde declaring "I'm ready to take somebody down tonight."

"Bounty Girls," produced by Robert Katz and Craig Piligian, may be Court TV's answer to A&E's wildly successful "Dog the Bounty Hunter," a reality show starring rough-and-tough Honolulu bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman and his crew. Since that show's inception, several other bounty-hunter reality shows have been produced, including WE's "Wife, Mom, Bounty Hunter" and HBO's documentary, "Family Bonds."

Bounty hunters are agents generally hired by bail-bonds companies to ensure that their clients will show up for court. Bounty hunting laws vary from state to state: Oregon, for instance, does not allow bounty hunters to operate within the state, while others, such as Mississippi, require licenses. Other countries disallow bounty hunting entirely: In 2003, Mexican authorities charged Chapman with illegal detention and conspiracy for apprehending Max Factor heir Andrew Luster and bringing him back to the US to face criminal charges.

Court TV is a member of the Turner Broadcasting family of cable networks, along with TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies. The channel has been in operation since 1991. On July 11, Turner Entertainment Networks announced that on Jan. 1, 2008, Court TV would be renamed truTV. The name change will also bring with it a revamping of the channel's shows, including more action-oriented programming. A number of new series are in development for truTV, including "Black Gold," a reality show about Texas oil prospectors.

I am so glad that clyde left the show because she was always wrong about everything she said she is a crybaby and did not know how to do her job.Jag should have got rid of her along time ago and gloria only forgot her things one time and jade is a better driver than clyde ,jade never lost anyone when she was following them.So they are better off without clyde and JAG IS THE BEST......

  • That Miami bounty hunter bimbo show is a disgrace.7/13/2008

What a bunch of bimbo crap . Those idiot bimbos couldn't secure a snot on a tissue correctly . I watched an episode where they first knock on a door with chinese food . Let the suspect close the door then go back and knock again ,bust up a window and mess up a door while trying to get the suspect . A disgrace to trained law enforcement people. All that this show does is show how easy a bunch of bubble headed bimbos with big boobs can obtain a reality show. Hey lets all go out and be bounty hunters . How about them teaming up with that crack head convict dog ? Well call it "Doggie style boobs of bounty bootie" .

I just started watching the show and it's the most racist show on TV! Clyde was being targeted by jag, jade, and gloria. Hispanics can be as racist as whites especially in Miami. No more support from me!

What ashame is was that Clyde left the team. She had no choice. If you look at the show, she was always watched very closely and if something went wrong, Jag always came down on her hard. Clyde would approach dangeous situations alone but Jag sends Gloria and Jade together. Gloria never brings all of her equipment and the website does not even mention her experience and it does not mention Jade's experience either. I don't see this show lasting very long because I felt that all three of them were jealous of Clyde because she was very good as what she did. Gloria is too busy trying to look good and not find the people who are trying to skip bond and can they teach Jade how to drive please. They need to apologize to Clyde and get her back or hire someone with her years and knowledge of experience.
