Courtyard by Marriott at Indianapolis Capitol
An Ecomomical, yet Comfortable Downtown Indianapolis Hotel
While not the most upscale hotel in downtown Indianapolis, the accommodations are nice and the rooms and common areas are kept tidy and dirt free. The staff of the Courtyard by Marriott Indianapolis Capital is receptive. During one visit, a group of young girls brushed their hair in the business center and when informed, the front desk quickly took care of the mess. During another visit, the ice machines on each of the hotel's four floors all ran out of ice at the same time. The front desk entered the on site kitchen to get ice for guests.
One drawback to the hotel is the $12 charged per day to park. While many hotels charge for parking in downtown locations, this hotel could easily offer free parking to guests because it isn't located in the heart of downtown, but in the outskirts. But, there is plenty of very close on street parking. The neighborhood is also safe so parking on the street isn't a problem.
The breakfast situation could also be better. If wanting to eat breakfast at the hotel, prepare to shell out $8 for a "breakfast buffet." The lack of any continental breakfast offerings was surprising and disappointing.
The business center is nice and a great perk. Unlike at many hotels when the computers are located in the nook of a busy lobby, the Internet accessible computers have their own private room. There are two computers with free printing also available. Free wireless Internet connections are also available in all the guest rooms.
The guest rooms are comfortable. The bedding used is quite comfortable with down comforters and extra pillows provided. The King bedrooms come with a pull-out sofa. The sitting room is nice for those who don't like to watch television in bed. The rooms are decorated in a reasonably fresh and modern manner. All the rooms have been spot free and in good condition.
The hotel offers an indoor pool and hot tub. However, these features are almost too popular and seem quite crowded. An expanded pool area would benefit the hotel. A fitness room is also available and offers cardio and weight training equipment to hotel guests.
The three star hotel runs about $129 per night when booked through the Marriott hotels site. However, a cheaper deal can definitely be had. Priceline often accepts name your own price bids for the hotel at as low as $40 a night.
