"Cover Girl Advanced Radiance Age-Defying Correcting Concealer #215" Vs "Models Prefer Aqua Vit Concealer Pen"

Christine
I happen to be one of those that suffers from deep under eye circles. The big dark rings under my eyes that looks like I haven't slept in about a week, and makes me look about 10 years older than I am. Somedays it feels like that, but even when I am well rested, there they remain. I do my best with night creams, eye creams, retinol agents, the whole nine. But when I go to put my face on in the morning, they are still there and need some serious cosmetic 9-1-1. Again, here is a situation where I've tried everything. Here I am going to review the two latest victims in my quest to hide my dark circles.

I first went with Cover Girl Advanced Radiance Age-Defying Correcting Concealer #215 (#215 is the shade, by the way) because on the package it said recommended by Olay. Well, with me being a sucker for Olay products I was sold on this in a heartbeat. The Age-Defying bit had me as well. Cover Girl Advanced Radiance Age-Defying Correcting Concealer claims to give you smoother looking skin and to help cover the obvious signs of aging.

It is said to provide radiantly beautiful coverage, and the applicator ensures no tugging around the eye area. The applicator by the way is this handy little pen that I just love, you twist the bottom of the dial and the concealer comes out of the top onto a sponge. Then you just sponge the concealer onto your "affected area" smooth and blend it in and away you go. Now, perhaps I didn't have the right shade, but this one seemed to match my skin tone pretty good. And even with eye cream, moisturizer, and primer on before the concealer, the dark circles remained. In fact I wondered, they may even look a little more obvious.

So this concealer is not really my best friend when it comes to combating the dark rings. I ended up with an overall very cakey effect. However, this tool is definitely handy for other blemishes or marks that you may want to conceal. Any area that was not under my eye was definitely concealed very well if I wanted to with this pen. So, while Cover Girl Advanced Radiance Age-Defying Correcting Concealer #215 works very well for the rest of my face, as far as a dark ring concealer, it didn't do the trick.

Onto my next victim, the Models Prefer Aqua Vit Concealer Pen. This works the same way, it comes in a pen and you twist and dial and brush on the product. This comes in four shades, light, medium, tan, and deep. While this does not seem like a lot of options for a concealer, the key here is that less is more. Find the shade that most closely matches your skin tone and go with that. With concealers you want to go a bit lighter anyway. The formula is yellow based which is a good base for reflecting opposite colors.

Models Prefer Aqua Vit Concealer Pen is also enriched with vitamins, emollients, and skin conditioners which is a plus considering where it is going. It can be used for dark circles, fine lines, skin discolorations, redness, and blemishes. And it works very well on my circles. They don't disappear, but the effect is much better than with the Cover Girl Product. There is no caking with this and the fact that it is so concentrated makes the blending so much smoother. I tried this one with and without my routine. That is, eye cream, moisturizer, primer, and then concealer. I always put on concealer before foundation and powder.

So when I say routine, I mean, the pre-foundation regime. There was a definite difference when my face was not "prepared" for the concealer. It still worked, and not too bad either, but blending was just a little more difficult. However, once the final product via foundation and powder was applied, Models Prefer Aqua Vit Concealer Pen made such a huge difference on my face. Unless someone tells me of a better product, this will be the one I work with for a while.
