Cover Girl Lashblast Luxe Mascara in Black Royale: A Review

The Blackest Black Mascara

Cover Girl's Lashblast Luxe mascara has gotten many rave reviews. I first discovered Lashblast Luxe through word of mouth via Youtube videos. Actually I've seen the commercials at least a dozen times a day since this mascara first came out but I didn't pay much attention to it until all of my favorite makeup gurus were talking about it. I was watching makeup tutorials and came across so many people suggesting Cover Girl's Lashblast Luse mascara that it got me curious enough to want to try it out for myself.

I went out and got myself a tube of Cover Girl's Lashblast Luxe mascara about five months ago. I believe I got mine at Target for around $8 but this mascara is also sold in most drug stores and Wal-Mart. Considering the price of makeup these days $8 is still very affordable. Cover Girl's Lashblast Luxe mascara comes in a thick, hot pink tube and is available in four shades of black like Black Platinum, Black Cabernet, Black Royale and Black Emerald. It's actually black mascara that has a hint of color to it. I got mine in Black Royale.

I've been using Cover Girl's Lashblast Luxe mascara for several months now and there were several things I liked about it and almost as many aspects to this mascara that I thought could be improved on. What I like about this mascara is that it comes in color choices and the colors actually showed up on my lashes. Not only does the color show up well when applied but it adds a good amount of shimmer to give my lashes that extra oomph that makes my eyes stand out. I like the plastic bristle brush as well, it makes applying my mascara much easier and I'm able to coat them from base to tip. The plastic brush also does a good job of separating my eyelashes which keeps them from clumping up. Clumpy eyelashes are the worst. Cover Girl's Lashblast Luxe mascara also doesn't flake or smudge, at least from my what I can tell.

Now to what I didn't quite like about Cover Girl's Lashblast Luxe mascara. I didn't like the design of the overall brush. It's great at preventing clumps but I thought the stick part of it was too thick and the bristles too short. I couldn't quite reach the lashes at the corners of my eyes without getting mascara on my face. I didn't like the handle either, it was too thick and cumbersome to handle. One other thing that I didn't like about this mascara is that it doesn't come in waterproof. Waterproof mascaras are the best way to keep lashes curled.

Despite it's flaws, what few there are, I think Cover Girl's Lashblast Luxe mascara is a pretty good every day mascara. It comes in fun black colors that are packed with loads of shimmer so it's great for day time wear. I would recommend this mascara.
