In "Covert Affairs," Season 3, Episode 13, "A Girl Like You," Annie Walker is plunged into all sorts of trouble when her FBI friend Vincent Rossabi informs her that a CIA agent is trifling with one of his people of interest. Could she get him to stop?
Spoilers surely follow.
The "CIA agent" in question is actually another old friend of Annie's, Eyal Lavin, the charming, duplicitous Mossad agent who is doing a false flag operation to get at a deep cover agent who has gone missing - or so he says. The man in question, Fouad Saeed, is the key to finding him. Annie, for her sins, is assigned to tail Lavin, which means that she accompanies him on his various break-ins and interrogations.
One of the more amusing scenes happens when Lavin and Annie play good-cop, bad-cop with Saeed as smoothly as if they had been partners for years. Saeed agrees, under duress, to arrange for a meeting with the covert operative, code name Cardinal. Instead it is a trap, there is gunfire and Saeed is sent to the 72 virgins.
The FBI and the CIA often have these little dust-ups. But a three-way between the feds, the spooks, and Mossad was something to see. It doesn't matter. The FBI is closing in on Cardinal and Lavin is being booted out of the country, never to return.
Annie, of course, finds Lavin at his favorite bar, having not gotten on the plane to Tel Aviv. It turns out that Cardinal is not a Mossad deep cover, but a terrorist who had shot up a kibbutz nine years earlier, including Lavin's sister. While the FBI intends to incarcerate the terrorist, Lavin intends to kill him.
A suicide mission, Annie tells him. Surely the sister would not want that?
It is exactly what his sister would want, Lavin says.
Then Annie neatly honeytraps Lavin and chains him to the bed. Do not think ill of Lavin. Having Annie crawling all over one, smooching and caressing, would rob anyone of his judgment.
However this turns out to not be such a good move when Cardinal shows up with two of his buddies. Being chained up is, fortunately, a temporary inconvenience for Lavin. There is more gunplay, especially when Jai and a CIA hit team shows up. But Cardinal pays for his sins and Lavin is taken away, alive, on a stretcher.
