Covington: Kentucky's fourth largest city (pop. forty-five thousand) sits in the Northeast corner of Kenton County, across the Ohio River from Cincinnati. Covington hosts and co-hosts some of the regions biggest events, for example: The Toyota WEBN fireworks which draw over five hundred-thousand people to both banks of the Ohio river every Labor Day week-end. Covington is also the starting point for the worlds largest Yard-sale; also known as the 127 corridor sale, this is a four day week-end long event that takes place in middle of August. This record setting event kicks off in Covington and runs for four hundred-fifty miles through some of Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama's scenic back-roads, ending in Gadsden Al..

Covington's, Main-Strasse area with its German village oriented theme, contains specialty shops and restaurants, and it plays host for the major seasonal events the city has organized. The neighborhood can be found on Kentucky's historic register, complete with it's: giant Carroll Chime Bell Tower and mid to late 19th century Victorian and Italian style homes. The festival year is kicked off in March with the: Mardi Gras and Fat Tuesday week-end long party - complete with bands, beads and paper Mache masks; just a word to the wise - these events are geared more for the adults.

Then in May there is - you guessed it: Mayfest, complete with may-pole and ribbon, to welcome in the spring - following German tradition.

Following mayfest is an old favorite: The original Goetta Fest. Here you can sample some of the finest in Goetta cuisine.

Then there's the Granddaddy of them all: Oktoberfest - the very heart and soul of the Main-Strasse village. The beer, bruats, sights and sounds will make you think you are in Munich, Germany - home of the original festival. These are just a few of the toppings on the cake, of what this beautiful mid-size city has to offer. There are numerous smaller school and church festivals going on through the summer months.
