Nelson!
At some point in time many of us have had cow's milk. But how many of us have ever had cow's urine? That's right, cow pee. Stay with me here - this is serious business. A couple of years ago, while doing research to write a promotional piece for a man's vitamin, I ran across a fascinating story which said in essence that cow urine is good for you! According to the report on MSNBC Reuters, dated March 1, 2005, Cow Urine was touted as a Cure-All in India. The report said: "New Delhi - Alongside life-size posters of Hindu nationalist leaders, Indian political activists can now buy lotions, potions and pills to cure anything from cancer to hysteria to piles - all made from cow urine or dung.

'You won't believe how quickly some of the products sold out' says Manoj Kumar, who runs the souvenir shop along with his brother, Sanjeev, at the BJP Headquarters in a plush central New Delhi neighborhood. 'The constipation medicine is a hot seller. It's a miraculous cure'".

Being a naturally inquisitive person, I decided to check this out further... because I really didn't believe it. And sure enough there is a Cow Urine Therapy & Research Institute based in Madhya Pradesh, India. It is engaged in the study of the constituents and benefits rendered by Cow Urine Therapy. It focuses on discovering innovative Cow Urine Therapy and Therapeutic compositions for the treatment of several diseases.

According to Mr. Jain, who is the head of the Institute, their main aim and objective is to prevent and cure disease by applying a totally natural and highly effective new concept. And according to the web site www.cowurine.com , there are many useful elements found in Cow Urine. The main elements of Cow Urine and their functions are: Urea, a major element found in urine and is the end product of protein metabolism. It is a strong antibacterial agent. Uric Acid, which is similar to Urea and has strong antibacterial properties, is also a key element. In addition, it helps to control cancer-causing substances. Furthermore, Minerals from the urine can be easily reabsorbed as compared to those derived from food.

According to the Institute, some of the bioactive substances in Cow Urine include Urokinase which helps to dissolve blood clots and improves blood circulation. And vitamins A, B, C, D, E - they prevent excessive thirst, infuses vigor, and increase potency. The institute goes on to say that their therapy is highly economical with minimal to nil side effects - and the beauty of this therapy, they say, is that when it is given to cure a main disease, it also cures other correlated diseases.

So, consequently,as you can see, Cow Urine is good for you - seriously! However, the question is should You drink Cow Urine? And the answer, well...it's really a matter of taste. Bon Appetit!
