Cowboys Vs. Eagles Final Score Not What was Expected

Rather Than a Close Game, the Cowboys Blew Out the Eagles Once Again

Ryan Christopher DeVault
The Cowboys vs. Eagles final score was anything but predictable. In fact, the Cowboys vs. Eagles final score was so one sided, that someone could have made a fortune on this game in Vegas. I can just picture someone going into a casino and saying, "I want to bet on the Cowboys by 17 points to win in the playoffs." That person would have left the casino this evening as a very happy customer. This game got out of hand early in the second quarter, and it just never even seemed close after that, as the Cowboys showed the Eagles that it didn't even matter what field they were going to play on.

It started with a quick 1-yard pass from Tony Romo to John Phillips at the 14:15 mark of the second quarter, but it seemed like Philadelphia might be able to keep pace when they answered with a 76-yard pass play from Michael Vick for a touchdown. That was about as close as the game would remain, as Dallas started scoring quite often after that with a Tashard Choice rushing touchdown, a Miles Austin reception for a touchdown and two additional field goals to end the second quarter with the Cowboys winning by a score of 27 to 7. It looked like the heart had just been ripped out of the Philadelphia Eagles, and the halftime pep talk didn't do much to improve their situation.

Felix Jones tacked on another touchdown in the third quarter to push the lead to 34 to 7 and the Cowboys fans had a right to start celebrating. Philadelphia did add another touchdown in the beginning of the fourth quarter, but it didn't make that much of a difference. Dallas controlled every aspect of the game on Saturday, and gave the Philadelphia Eagles and their fans one of the most disheartening ends to a season that any team could have. First the Cowboys destroyed them in the season finale, and now they have eliminated them from the 2010 NFL Playoffs in a complete blow-out.

Dallas winning this game means that they will be playing the #2 seed next weekend, which is the Minnesota Vikings. It should be a good match-up, but Brett Favre may have even more energy after a week off from the playoff bye. By a final score of 34 to 14, the Dallas Cowboys have sent the Philadelphia Eagles on an early winter vacation, and it's clear that the Eagles need a play-maker at receiver or running back if they plan on really contending for something substantial in the 2011 regular season. For the game, Tony Romo went 23 for 35 for 244 yards, two touchdowns, and most importantly, zero interceptions. The Cowboys are into the divisional playoffs now, but the competition is just going to get tougher.
