Many cozy mysteries take place in the store the main character owns. So it is only appropriate that we start our list with a series that takes place in a pet store. Barbara Block is the author of a series called Robin Light Mystery Series where the pet store owner always seems to get involved with murder.
Veterinarians get into the picture also in a cozy series by Lydia Adamson. This series is called the Dr. Dierdre Quinn Nightingale Series and Dr. Quinn is a veterinarian who solves crime on the side.
Holly Winter is a dog trainer and writer for the Dog's Life Magazine in a series by Susan Conant called the Holly Winter Mystery Series.
The Petsitter Mystery Series, written by Linda O. Johnston, is about Kendra Ballantyne who is a pet sitter who ends up trying to solve murders.
An interesting cozy mystery series titled Animal Instinct Mystery Series was written by Gabriella Herkert who used a real legal case as the foundation for her first book in this series. The subject case was about a cat that was left a fortune in a will.
There are also cozy mysteries that deal specifically with one kind of animal. One of these would be Monica Ferris. In her Peter Brichter Series, our heroine is a horse breeder so she, of course, concentrates on horses in her cozy mysteries.
On the subject of horses, there is a series about a journalist who writes articles about equestrians. This cozy series is written by Jody Jaffe and would interest any horse lover.
Of course, we could not have cozy mysteries about animals without cat and dog mysteries. Lillian Jackson Braun is the first to come to mind because her series about cats and dogs has been around for a very long time.
Cynthia Baxter has a cozy mystery series with an animal theme that has been around for a while also. Reigning Cats and Dogs is about a veterinarian who loves cats and dogs.
Laurien Berenson brings dogs into the cozy mystery series arena with her series called the Melanie Travis Mystery Series. These books are about a Special Education teacher who participates in dog shows.
There are too many more to list but these will keep you busy for a while. So visit your local library, local bookstore or the Internet and get a cozy mystery about animals today.
