CP Spotlight: Lori Borys

Lori Borys
I am new to AC and, as far as I can tell, I'm not on anyone's list of favorites nor am I one of the most read, most e-mailed, or most forgotten contributors. When I saw the interview a content producer mail I thought I would seize the opportunity to interview myself and maybe win a few more readers over. It's not so much narcissistic as promotional. I didn't want to be presumptuous and give you a biography so I used the questions given. I hope you enjoy it and will come by my CP page from time to time to see what I'm up to.

What really inspires you to write? When every my son does something blatantly and unabashedly ridiculous.

What is the one thing that draws you to the computer and really gets your fingers moving on an article? I usually think about something for a few hours or overnight before I sit down to type. Most of it is formulated in my mind and it just flows out. If I just sit down and start typing it takes forever to gather everything together. Aside from that the things that inspire me to write need organization and to be thought through if they are going to be coherent.

So how did you get into writing? They made me do it in school when I was 8.

Tell us one thing about yourself that people might not know. I'm an open book, what good is keeping a secret? In the grand scheme of things what is it worth? I'm goofy and klutzy and I like disco and The Carpenters.

What has been your greatest success in life? Finding a man who can stand to be married to me.

What goals are you trying to achieve with your writing? I want other people to read my things and be able to relate to them. I want them to see their kids or think the craft they created is really cool. I want them to laugh and lighten the burden of their day if only for the five minutes it takes to read my article.

If you were trapped on an island alone what 3 things could you not live without? Assuming I have food, shelter and clothing…a radio that would work in perpetuity. An endless supply of bug spray because, yech! Soap.

Name 5 songs that you would include on your personal life soundtrack. In no particular order and in no particular reason other than they make me smile: Living On A Prayer, Bon Jovi. Days Go By, Keith Urban. Fur Elise, Beethoven. Pride And Joy, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Prozac, Bellevue Cadillac.

What actor would you want to play you in your life story and why? Someone unknown. It would be their breakout roll. They'd have to break out all over the place, fall down some stairs, get yanked off their feet by the dog, backed over by a milk truck while in a parked car… it's not a role for the faint of heart…oh yeah and then there's the whole heart thing…

What made you start writing for Associated Content? I searched for something and an article from AC popped up. I decided to check out the site and then I decided to try one of my stories and see what happened. My friends are always telling me I have a talent for it so I thought I'd see if anyone else thought so too.

What color best describes your personality and why? Pink. Pink everything. Pink clothes, pink socks, pink shoes, pink birthstone. My favorite foods are a hue of pink. Even my dog is a little pink looking. It's not over powering or obnoxiously loud, its pretty and warm and it makes me feel happy. I'm not a psycho about it though, my hair is not pink, not everything in my closet is pink, and the dog only looks pink because she is swimming in the shallow end of the gene pool.

  • My memory, and it's fading faster and faster every day.
  • Factoid: I am the artist for the Bellevue Cadillac CD Love Allways
  • Factoid: I passed my lifeguard test at the age of 12 but was too young to be one
  • Factoid: I have a doctors note for metal implants so I can go through airport security
The first concert I ever went to was Shawn Cassidy. He threw roses to the audience and I save some crinkled up black petals in a Sean Cassidy picture book for years. I bet it's still in my parents attic somewhere.
