CP Spotlight: Renee B

Afton Nelson
I first met Renee B. through an online community focused on business and product reviews. What first made me interested in getting to know her better, other than her great reviews, was the fact that we had something very special in common: we are both mothers to 3 boys. It seems that only a mother of 3 boys could understand what truly goes on in the life of another mother of 3 boys: The pockets full of rocks going through the load of wash, the stick and dead leaf collections that are more precious to our little ones than gold, and the mysterious clothing stains and holes that seem to continuously appear.

One of the many things I admire about Renee is that she is able to mother her 3 beautiful boys, be a loving wife, hold down a full time job, and write for Associated Content. Here is a little bit more about Content Producer, Renee B.

What really inspires you to write? What is the one thing that draws you to the computer and really gets your fingers moving on an article?

My family is my inspiration. Specifically my three little boys - Sebastian is 5 and a half, Benjamin is 3 years old, and Lucian is one and a half. I have found that the computer and writing is my escape from the craziness of motherhood. When the going gets tough, I start writing.

So how did you get into writing?

I consider myself a life-long learner. I've always excelled in school and writing has always been an area of strength. Writing has always come easy to me. I think my personality drew me to writing as a teenager. On the outside I was quiet and shy and didn't speak up very often, though on the inside I was bubbly, opinionated, with a silly sense of humor. I channeled the inner me through writing, which I believe helped me unleash the more outgoing side of me.

Tell us one thing about yourself that people might not know.

I am the oldest of four girls - having three sisters is great! Also, I was a competitive swimmer in high school and college.

What has been your greatest success in life?

Do I have to pick just one? First and foremost, my children are my greatest success in life. What an amazing feeling it is being the mommy to three beautiful little boys. Aside from my boys, I feel that my education is my greatest success in life!

What goals are you trying to achieve with your writing?

I love the outlet that writing provides and being paid to write is just awesome! I'd love to continue publishing both on AC as well as where ever else my path may lead. I want to share my knowledge. I know that I have a gift and my parents always taught me to share.

If you were trapped on an island by yourself what 3 things could you not live without?

This is a loaded question. Would I be provided with the necessities of food, shelter, and clothing? Am I allowed to bring my family or would they be able to be counted as one of my "3 things"? How long will I be trapped on the island? If it were a short time, I'd take different things than if it were forever. All this being said I'll take: 1 - my family, 2 - my laptop with internet connection, 3 - whatever my kids want to bring!

Name 5 songs that you would include on your personal life soundtrack.

Barenaked Ladies - What a Good Boy

Sarah McLachlin - I Will Remember You

Anything Dave Matthews Band

Depeche Mode - Somebody

U2 - Beautiful Day

James Blunt - You're Beautiful

What actor would you want to play you in your life story and why?

Renee Zellweger - Maybe it's the name that has drawn me to her but I just think she is marvelous. She's beautiful and vibrant and full of energy. She is sweet without too much sugar and has a bit of spice to her, which is a nice mix. I love her voice and her attitude and how she carries herself. I think she'd do a great job playing me!

What made you start writing for Associated Content?

I'm always looking for new opportunities to make money and what better way than to do what I love to do and that which comes easy to me! This was the next step in the progression of my writing. I hope to learn and grow new talents in my writing!

What color best describes your personality and why?

My favorite color changes and varies depending upon my mood. As a young girl and teen, my favorite colors were pink and purple because they defined girly. I went through I time when I really preferred black. It was a time of self-realization. Now a day I prefer green. The only reason I can pinpoint it to is that green is my Sebastian's favorite color and he's so passionate about his favorite color. A good friend once said that green is a combination of laid back and full of life. I must agree that this is me!
