Cracker Barrel in Norcross, Georgia - Restaurant Review

Breakfast, Anyone?

Karen Francis
I am sure that you have been to or seen a Cracker Barrel during your family vacations or travels throughout the various states. However, I will have to admit that although I've seen the signs on the highway and have heard several people talk about Cracker Barrel throughout the years, it's only in recent years that I actually visited a local Cracker Barrel.

The first time I tried out Cracker Barrel was when I was taking a road trip from Georgia to Virginia and I decided to stop for a little something to eat with my son. Even before you walk into the establishment, Cracker Barrel gives you a feast for the eyes for sure. On the rather long porch like entrance which is characteristic of most Cracker Barrel's, you'll find handmade rocking chairs for both adults and children. They also have a very large checkerboard for your amusement as you wait your turn to be seated.

When I visited Cracker Barrel for the first time, it was in the middle of the day, so the crowd was manageable, but let me warn you, if you're looking to visit them during breakfast or lunch you may have a little bit of a wait as you'll see people lined along the entrance and in the store itself waiting for a seat.

One wonderful thing about this place is that when you enter the store portion of the establishment, it takes you back to wonderful childhood memories with all of the old movies, familiar candies, yummy smells such as taffy and coconut. You will also find wonderful inspirational trinkets as well as lovely china, stuffed animals, t-shirts and a host of other things to choose from. It really is a feast for the eyes just as their food is for your stomach.

My favorite meal of the day is breakfast. I can eat breakfast food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so I rarely order from the lunch or dinner menu when I visit Cracker Barrel. My favorite meal is the blueberry pancakes with maple syrup, turkey sausage, hash browns and apples. Can you say umm, ummm good? The first time I tried the blueberry pancakes I was sold! The fresh fruit with the flaky batter is an absolute feast and oh so satisfying. If you are watching your weight as most of us are doing now, you can certainly request some healthy alternatives such as wheat and egg whites.

If you are more of a lunch or dinner person, then they have homemade dishes, fresh fish, vegetables and sandwiches that will keep you coming back for more. As I mentioned, earlier, there is sometimes a wait for breakfast and lunch, but let me tell you, it is well worth the wait once you get a hold of their down home fittings! Plus you can shop while you wait. Now that's what I call a two for one special.

Bottom line: Price point is reasonable; Food is GREAT, There are various locations throughout the US, so check your local listening for the Cracker Barrel nearest you. The location I had the pleasure of visiting recently is located at 6175 McDonough Dr Norcross, GA 30093-1204. If you live in the area or are traveling to that area, visit them today or give them a call on 770-446-1313 to plan your next breakfast meeting or office lunch. Cracker Barrel...for breakfast, lunch or dinner!
