Cracks Starting to Show in "Joe the Plumber's" Story

Not Only Would Joe Benefit from Obama's Tax Plan, but Ohio Man Owes Back Taxes

When it comes to "Joe the Plumber", the Holland, OH man who is getting his 15 minutes of fame after asking a question of Barack Obama on Oct.12, the truth is starting to "leak" out "drip by drip". Cracks are starting to show in the story of Joe Wurzelbacher, better known as "Joe the plumber" (or is it Joe Sixpack?).

You see, not only does Joe not take home over $250,000 a year, meaning he would not have his taxes raised if Barack Obama wins and enacts his tax plan, "Joe the plumber" is not even a licensed plumber in the state of Ohio. Or anywhere else. The man works for a plumbing supply company as an apprentice. "Joe the plumber" owes over $1,100 in back taxes under the present tax plan. When asked if he earns around $250,000, Joe Wurzelbacher replied "not even close".

"Joe the Plumber
" was referenced at least 20 times in the third and final Presidential debate, now it seems poor Joe is becoming uncomfortable with all the attention. Say it ain't so, Joe! I'd be uncomfortable too if I misrepresented myself before a national audience and asked a tax question of a Presidential candidate, especially if I owed over $1,100 in back taxes. Is it too late for "Joe the plumber" to switch his handle to "Joe Sixpack", you know, Sarah Palin's pal?

It turns out that Wurzelbacher hasn't even undergone apprenticeship training! Too bad Sarah Palin is already taken by the "first dude" of Alaska, 'cause these two have a lot in common! Why doesn't John McCain just name Joe as his Chief Of Staff or to a Cabinet position in case McCain overcomes the odds to get elected? Joe "the plumber's" qualifications aren't that much less impressive than Palin's, after all. Tricky Dick Nixon had his plumbers, why can't McCain have his? Oh yeah, Joe isn't really a plumber, he just works for a plumbing supply company.

It appears that John McCain is grasping at straws or at least groping for a life raft in bringing "Joe the plumber" to the forefront of his campaign. It may be more like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titannic, if recent polls are any indication. As John McCain's campaign "goes down the drain", the self-proclaimed "Maverick" needs to call a real plumber, not Joe Wurzelbacher, now famous, or infamous as "Joe the plumber".
