Craft Designer Christmas Stockings with These Free Knitting Patterns

Knitting Christmas stockings is an adventurous project. Knit Christmas stockings can be customized in so many ways using a person's name and neat Christmas designs. Especially convenient, this craft is time-efficient in that unlike knitting socks - one of my favorite activities - knitting Christmas stockings involves making only one per person. So here is a guide that describes 10 brilliant and free Christmas stocking knitting patterns and provides links to their websites.

1.Personalized Christmas Stocking by Sara Bradberry

This detailed Christmas stocking by Sara Bradberry features a personalized name in addition to the designs of children, Santa, and a Christmas tree. The length of the sock leg measures 20 inches and the length of the foot measures 8 ½ inches. As a bonus, this knitting pattern includes an alphabet and number chart for the recipient's name and the date, a children's image chart, a Santa image chart, and a Christmas tree image chart. The materials required include 4 oz each of worsted yarn in the shades of red, blue, green, and white; a set of 3.75 mm straight needles; and 15-18 small sequins.

2.Knitted Candy Cane Boot

This cute Christmas stocking resembling a candy cane with a bow is designed using red and white worsted yarn. The leg width measures 4 inches, while the leg length measures 7 inches. The necessary tools include one set of size 10 (5 ¾ mm) knitting needles, size H yarn hook, and a yarn needle.

3. Celestial Stocking (Knit)

This intermediate level knitting pattern features the theme of white stars amidst a midnight blue sky. The sock leg length measures 14 inches and the foot length measures 10 inches. The super bulky yarn used is Plymouth Brand Yukon composed of mohair, wool, and acrylic or Lion Brand Wool and in the shade of off white. The tools used include a set of four size 13 double pointed needles, a cable needle, and a darning needle.

7. Magi B

Magi B is an easy skill level 7 inch x 18 inch Berroco knit Christmas stocking. Its splendid design is composed of seed stitches accentuated by cross stitch embroidery and a draw string. Crocheting is also involved to bind two sections together. Two 50g balls of Berroco comfort in the shades of "Beet Root" and "Spruce" are required. The tools include a set of size 8 knitting needles, a size H crochet hook, and a tapestry needle.

8. Magi C

Magi C is an intermediate skill level 6 inch x 18 inch Berroco Christmas stocking knitting pattern. This impressive Aran beet red stocking features a centered cable and a crown of white pompoms. This baby blue knit sock with a projected white snowman is worked in two pieces and sewn together. The snowman is knitted, stitched to the stocking, and stuffed with fiberfil. This stocking is composed of 100% Merino Wool yarn: two (50 gram) balls in blue and one (50 gram) ball in white. A size US 5 knitting needle is used.
