Kalicanthus is currently holding its last open beta event for the upcoming MMO called "Craft of Gods." One of the few MMOs to be found on a .eu website (European), Kalicanthus has got the right idea with their "anybody can have any skill" implementation, but the gameplay is downright terrible. I'll have to admit, I never made it past level 1, and it certainly is not because I didn't play for over 45 minutes or am not skilled at these types of games (I'm in a 12-step program for MMO addiction and can't make it past step 1).

The first quest when you create your character and sign in is to find 3 wolf's teeth from Twilight Wolves. The twilight wolves spawn intermittently, so sometimes they can be hard to find, and the drop rate (at least for me) was really low. Like I said, I gave up after 45 minutes to an hour without being able to complete the first quest, or make it past level 1. For an MMO, this is terrible for the replay value.

The graphics are decent, but could be a whole let better. Since Kalicanthus is relatively new to the MMORPG world, I'll cut them some slack and say these graphics are alright for a first-release MMO if the content is good. Now that I think about it again though, the content isn't that great, so let's fix these graphics. Also, it got pretty annoying being behind my character and feeling like she was always facing a 45-degree angle with no way to correct this problem.

The best thing about this game is the amount of skills and powers to choose from. Craft of Gods uses a classless-based system, unlike World of Warcraft and Everquest 2. You can pick from any powers among the many different schools of magic, as long as you have the points, and any previous powers in that school. This leads to some very interesting gameplay.

The game is set to be released on May 27th, but my recommendation for this new company if they want to succeed, push back the release date and improve what you have. You may make a few loyalists mad, but you'll gain much more subscribers in the end if you fix the questing system and the graphics. These two things are your worst downfalls, fix these, and I believe you'll find success where many others have failed.
