A very easy and simple craft is using just the back pocket from your old jeans. Cut out the pocket and insert a tiny stuff animal inside. I did once this for Easter. I hot glued some rope inside both sides of the pocket to make it a hanging pocket. I then put a cute little bunny inside the pocket. Very cute! You can decorate the outside of the pocket any way you wish too or just keep it plain. This makes a great gift idea. It is also an easy project for kids.
Another great idea for the old jeans is to make a purse. Now this is a little more in depth and requires a bit more work. Just cut the whole seat from the jeans. Turn them inside out and sew up the edges. Now I have never tried hot gluing the edges, so this might would work. Although the glue may not be strong enough to hold the items you may carry inside the purse. Sewing is probably the best choice here. The open waist part of the jeans is the top of the purse. You can either sew a zipper into it or just put a button there. Cut a strip from the leg of the jeans to make a purse strap. You can do this anyway you like.
Next how about making blue jean coasters? Just cut out several squares from the jeans that are the same size. You can sew a seam around the edges if want a more clean look or just keep them a little ragged. This is very easy to do and so simple!
Now if you are into quilting, or even if your not, your jeans would make a great patchwork quilt. Cut out any size and shape you like and sew them into a quilt. Maybe now is the time for you to learn like you have always wanted.
You can make very simple book or notebook covers using your old blue jeans. Cut out the material from the jeans a little bigger than what you are wanting to cover. Then just hot glue around the inside of the book or notebook. Be sure and press hard and remove all wrinkles from the outside.
You can use your old jeans to decorate a scrapbook page. You can cut out different shapes and glue them onto your page. You could even cut out a back pocket and use as decoration in your scrapbook.
Before you throw out those jeans think twice! They are full of craft ideas just waiting to happen!
