To make muffin cup flowers, you will need muffin cups. You can buy them in the baking aisle of any store. They generally come in pretty pastel colors, but you can also find them in bright, bold colors, especially around certain holidays. You can also find them in foil. You can buy the regular size muffin cups, but if you see mini muffin cups, you might want to pick some of those up too. They are very inexpensive and one box will go a long way.
The two other things you must have to make your flowers are stems and leaves. As for stems, you can use popsicle sticks (you can paint them green), chenille sticks or pipe cleaners, green drinking straws, or even rolled up green paper. As for leaves, you can hand cut a bunch of leaves out of green construction paper or green computer paper.
As for the supplies you need to decorate your flowers and make each one unique, you can use anything you have on hand. You can use buttons, stickers, glitter, cotton balls, magazine cut outs, scrap paper, scrap fabric, etc. You can even use pieces of artificial flowers that you no longer want (just pull the petals apart). Once you start making muffin cup flowers, you will keep your eyes open for craft supplies that you can use.
To make the flowers, open up a muffin cup and lay it nearly flat. Glue the bottom of the muffin cup to your stem. Then decorate the center of the flower using various craft supplies. If you also have mini muffin cups, you can glue one in the center of the flower to make the flower look like a daffodil. This is especially pretty in yellow, but you can use any color... there are no rules in crafting!
If you are stumped for ideas as to how to decorate the flowers, see this image to get some ideas. You will see how colorful and pretty a simple muffin cup garden can be! If you want to expand on your new green thumb art, you can also use coffee filters to make even bigger flowers. You can leave the coffee filters white, or you can color them using water color paint (then let them dry) or markers. If you need big, sturdy stems for large flowers, you can roll up a sheet of newspaper. Roll it tight then secure with tape. You can then paint the stem green, or wrap it in green tissue paper or crepe paper.
