Country Wall Bow - Materials Needed
The bow itself for this country style craft is made out of paper twist. This material comes in spools of tightly twisted paper. You pull the twists apart to make a wide, wrinkly, paper ribbon. You will need about four yards of paper twist ribbon in your favorite color for this craft project. You will also need some heavy gauge wire, a bunch of dried flowers, and clear-drying craft glue.
Country Wall Bow - Making the Bow
Prepare the paper twist ribbon by stretching it outward from its tightly twisted shape. Stretch the entire four yards out. Do not stretch it until the enter thing is perfectly flat. You want an attractive rumpled look for your country style wall bow.
Begin by grabbing the paper twist about two feet from the end and then make a twenty inch long loop. Gather the center of this loop in the hand holding the paper twist. This will form the first two loops of the bow.
Continue making loops with the bow until you have three loops of shorter lengths. The last loop will be just a little puff in the middle, like the knot of a classic bow. Make sure there is a tail about as long as the first section you left. Use the wire to wrap all the loops together where your hand is holding them.
Country Wall Bow - Decorating the Bow
You may have an attractive paper twist bow now, but it is not a country style wall hanging unless you add some pretty dried flowers. Babies breath, dry ferns, and other dry flowers make good filler for the bow. None of the flowers should be very large.
Tuck small bunches of flowers and foliage in between each loop of the bow. Secure them with glue. Also, attach a larger, trailing bunch at the bottom in front of the bow tails.
The last step in creating this paper twist country style bow is to clip the tail ribbons with a V or a chevron shape. This gives a neat finished appearance.
This country style wall bow, made from paper twist and dried flowers, will be a wonderful decoration for your walls. Bring a bit of country home with this quick and easy craft.
