Craft Projects for Adults Using Acorns

Sarah Ganly
There are many craft projects for adults using acorns that are inexpensive and easy to use. Acorns are a wonderful crafting medium to add a rustic, country feeling to your crafts. This article will provide you with detailed instructions, supply lists, and tips for creating craft projects for adults using acorns.

Frame

A fun craft project for adults using acorns is a picture or mirror frame. For this project you will need many acorns, a frame, a hot glue gun, and hot glue sticks. Start by pulling all of the tops off of the acorns. You can choose to paint them if you like. A good way to paint is is by lying them up on a piece of newspaper and spray painting them.

Then start gluing the acorn caps to the outside edge of the frame. After you have made a complete row, start making the next row on the inside of the first row. Continue gluing the acorn tops until you cover the entire frame.

Floral Bouquet

Another fun craft project for adults using acorns is making a floral bouquet. For this craft you will need acorns, wire, a hot glue gun, hot glue sticks, and floral tape. Start by cutting 6 inch lengths of wire. Then wrap the wire in a spiral around the point of the acorn cap. Add glue to the wire to secure it in place. Repeat this process several times.

Cover the wire with floral tape from the tip of the acorn to halfway down the wire. Gather a few of these wires together and twist to make a thick stem. Cover the entire twist with the floral tape to create an acorn flower. Gather several of these flowers together and wrap them with ribbon or place them in a vase.

Acorn Mosaic

An acorn mosaic is a fun and easy craft project for adults. For this project you will need many acorns, paint, a paintbrush, a marker, glue, and a shallow box. It is also helpful to cover your work area with newspaper.

Use the marker to draw a simple image or symbol on the inside of the box. Figure out how many acorns you will need to glue standing up to complete the pattern. Paint the acorns appropriately and allow them to dry. Use the acorns to create the mosaic by gluing the acorns standing up in the shape of the pattern. Start from the center of the pattern and work your way towards the outside edge of the mosaic.

Acorns are the perfect medium for crafting in fall. They are inexpensive and easy to find, and they add a nice earthy touch to your craft projects.
