If you are making Easter egg greeting cards with a large group of children, set up and clean up may be an important factor in a craft project. For quick cleanup, always put a disposable cloth or newspapers on the table. For groups of children, you may want to have all your supplies handy. Remember the younger the child, the easier you will want the Easter egg greeting card to be to assemble. For groups you may want to have the supplies pre-cut and already chosen. If it is one or two children making an Easter egg greeting card, you can let the child or children choose the supplies as they go.
For an Easter egg greeting card you will either want to pre-cut construction paper or have different colored construction paper for the children to cut. In order to make the shape of an Easter egg greeting card, you will want to fold the paper in half like a regular greeting card.
Next, you can either cut or have the child cut the card in an oval shape starting at the folded edge so the card can be opened and still be attached at the fold. The card will not be a perfect oval due to the folded edge. The card will still look like an egg and be able to be opened.
After the card has been cut to look like an Easter egg, decorations will need to be added. Depending on the age of the children and the type of mess you want to clean up, the Easter egg greeting card can be decorated by gluing paper decorations on it, using glitter, paint, crayons or markers, or by pasting objects onto the Easter egg such as buttons, string, or feathers.
For little kids, you can pre-cut shapes for the child or children to glue onto the Easter egg greeting card. You can even turn the gluing of decorations on to the Easter egg a game. Cut circles, squares, rectangles, triangles, and squiggly lines in different color construction paper. When you are ready for the children to decorate their Easter egg greeting card you can call out shapes for the children to put on their card. You can let them put the shapes where they want. Whoever gets all the shapes right "wins".
For older kids, you can let them make their own decorations or choose what they want to use for decorations. Sit the supplies out for them to use and let their imaginations go. Remember for a quick clean up to use throw away paper to cover the table top with. Happy Easter egg card decorating!
Note: glitter glue is also a great alternative to glitter specks and separate glue. It can be found in almost any craft section of a store or in with school supplies. Dollar Tree even carries it.
