Craft Projects and Special Activities for Your Nephew

SDR2010
Being that I have three nephews I find myself trying to find special activities to do with children all of the time. Since my nephews love making crafts and unique projects I often look for projects that involve making different animals out of material that will last for a few years. I do this so that they will have something to remember their time with me and they will have the crafts to display in their room. Often the kids remember crafts projects that we put together years ago and this gives me a special feeling. I still have all of the animals that I designed with them and they love every one of the craft projects that we have done together. I have done many crafts projects with my nephews and some projects are easier to create than others. One of my favorites is creating felt cats because they have a unique look and design that kids will enjoy putting together.

The supplies that you need to make one felt cat would be 4 pieces of felt that are each 9 inches long and wide. You will need two buttons that are 1 inch each and 1 button that is two inches. All of these buttons should be black in color and you will need 5 buttons that are 3 inches big and different colors for the necklace of the cat. What you will need to do is place make the outline of a cartoon cat on the top piece of felt and then line this piece up with the bottom piece of felt and cut them with a pair of scissors. You can then place a handful of stuffing between these two layers and close the design of the cat with stitching along the outline. Once you have closed the cat you will want to place to small black buttons into place an design a face for the cat and then stitch each button into place so that the cat has the face that you desire. You will want to do the eyes and then do then nose and make sure no stitching is visible on the face. Once this is done you have place the larger buttons of various colors into a necklace design around the neck of the cat so that the buttons are creating an oval around the neck. You should then stitch the buttons into place and make sure each button is secure within the necklace. It is fine if you have the stitches show here and it will give the cat a unique look. Once this step is done the cat is complete and you have created something special.
