Craft a Valentine Gift Basket for Your Special Someone

Valentine's Day is a day to express your love to the special people in your life. A fun Valentine craft is making Valentine gift baskets. You create a special package that you put together for those special to you. For each Valentine craft gift basket you will need a container, a filler, items for your special someone, and wrapping. Baskets are readily available in stores, garage sales and flea markets. They can easily be spray painted any color. Being creative is part of the fun of any craft, don't limit your containers to only baskets. Plastic storage containers, baking pans, flower pots, pails, hats, tins, boxes - anything you can put things into can be used in place of the basket. The filler can be crumpled tissue paper, cellophane grass, shredded paper or a piece of pretty fabric. Decide on the items you want to give your special someone and arrange them nicely in the container. Cover everything with colored cellophane and a big bow and you have created a beautiful Valentine basket as a gift. Following are several craft ideas for different types of Valentine Baskets.

1. Romantic Valentine Basket For Lovers- Use a basket, champagne or ice bucket as the container and red or clear cellophane as the filler. Include a CD of romantic songs, scented candles, 2 glasses, a bottle of champagne or wine, a bottle of massage oil and some good chocolates. Include a cardboard sign to hang on the door that reads "Do Not Disturb". Wrap it all up in red cellophane and top with a big white bow.

2. Luxury Bath Valentine Basket - Take a large basket and spray it either red or white. Use crumpled tissue paper in the opposite color as a filler. Craft tiny hearts out of shiny silver and red paper to sprinkle over the tissue. Fill the basket with scented bath soaps, salts, oils, bubble bath, lotions, powders and a lufa.. Add heart shaped scented candles, a relaxing music CD, and favorite chocolates and a cardboard sign to hang on the door that says,"Pampering, Do Not Disturb". Cover with clear or red cellophane and add a big red bow.

3. Valentine Basket for Crafters - If your special someone loves to do crafts, put together a craft basket. Use a plastic storage container as the basket and fill with a glue gun and glue sticks, craft glue, craft patterns and how-to books. Add various craft items that your special person will like. These could be paints and assorted brushes, wooden items to paint, nails, a hammer, beads, jewelry findings, buttons, stickers, or dried or silk flowers. Wrap it all up in red cellophane, add a big bow and glue on a few small craft items to the sides.

4. Craft a Valentine Grandparent Gift Basket - Fill a big basket with your children's artwork, letters, current photographs in a brag-book, gifts made by the children, framed family picture and other fun items like candy, cocoa mix, coffee or tea. Take a plain white mug and let your children decorate it with painted red hearts or flowers. Cover with red cellophane and add a big bow with a hand crafted card hanging from a ribbon.

5. A Valentine Gift Basket For a Child - For the container use a child's pail and shovel or a dump truck. Use shredded cellophane grass or paper as the filler. Add crayons, a coloring book and whatever small toys are appropriate for the particular child. Don't forget to add a Valentine candy heart. Cover with red cellophane, add a big white or red bow and tie a small Valentine stuffed animal at the top.
