It's one of my favorite times of the year; Halloween is a fun holiday to get your creative side flowing. Let me show you a fun, cheap way of making these Halloween craft ideas.
I always carve a pumpkin or two every year, and after a few years I wanted a little bit more to add to my decorating projects. I picked up some great ideas from my local craft store and ever since then I have always added a few new decorations to my home. This Halloween decorating guide is a really cool way to make Halloween Cheese Cloth Ghosts crafts!
I have enjoyed making cheese cloth ghosts for my friends and family who really like them. Cheese Cloth Ghost makes for great home decorating and Halloween gifts. So get your creative cap on and get into my step by step guide for creating Halloween ghosts.
Materials List
- Fabric Stiffener (I recommend the Stiffy brand.)
- 25" x 37" Cheesecloth
- Two skinny wood dowels (Pencils work great also.)
- A roll of Plastic wrap.
- 2 ½ Styrofoam balls
- A hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Flat white plastic or cardboard (For making the eyes.)
- One square black piece of felt
- 20oz empty water bottle
- Assorted decorating items such as: plastic chains, small doll type hats, mini pumpkins, anything that's fitting for this Halloween theme.
- First start out by creating a figure by molding our items into a shape of a body. Do this by poking two small holes in both sides of your water bottle. Make sure your holes are a little more than half way down the middle of the bottle. Ok, moving on by sticking each pencil into the two holes. The two pencils will act as the arms to our ghost.
- If your bottle still has the plastic cap please unscrew and discard it.
- Now grab your Styrofoam ball and add a small amount of hot glue to the bottom.
- Place the ball on top of the water bottle, once the glue has dried start the next step.
- Open up your box of Plastic wrap and begin to cover the entire bottle. (Wrap the bottle, Styrofoam ball, and pencils.)
- In a good size bowl pour your liquid stiffener. Begin soaking your ghost cloth. Once completely soaked start removing the cloth from the bowl while ringing out the extra liquid.
- After you have completed covered your items with Plastic wrap drape your cheesecloth over the top of the mold. Position the cloth in anyway you see fit, keep in mind the head and arms should be closely formed.
- Now let your cheesecloth dry completely. Test for stiffness in an hour or less.
- When the cloth is nice and stiff, carefully start removing it away from the plastic mold.
- Making ghost eyes with the felt and cardboard. You can be as creative as you like with this step. I like to cut out two black felt ovals in fitting sizes, glue two white circles onto the felt in any position. Once the glue is completely dry, glue them onto the front of the face of the ghost.
- On this final step you can begin decorating your ghost with any type of accessories that you feel fit. Look for items the go great with the Halloween Cheesecloth Ghost theme.
