To make a pasta headband tiara, you will need a plain plastic headband in the color of your choice, wheel shaped pasta (or the shape of your choice), craft paint, and a hot glue gun. Start by figuring out the design of your tiara. To get an idea of how your tiara might look, click here to see an image.
Once you know which pasta you will be using to make your tiara, you can paint each piece of pasta in the color of your choice. You can use any craft paint, but acrylic is always a good choice since it dries quickly. Little kids can help with the painting step.
After your pasta pieces are dry, it's time to glue them on to the headband. Adults or older kids should do this step. Simply build your tiara any way you want. In the image, you will see wheel shaped pasta. However, you could always add bow tie pasta for a girlie ribbon look. Shell pasta might also look nice, especially for a mermaid tiara!
If you don't want to paint pasta, you can always buy colored pasta. You can usually find green pasta, yellow pasta and orange pasta. The kids won't care what color the pasta is. All colors are fun!
These pasta tiaras make nice party favors to give out at a girl's birthday party. If you want them to be extra special, you can always buy a bag of inexpensive gemstones and glue some of those on the tiara too!
As for that macaroni necklace, why not make one to match the tiara! You can use macaroni for the chain, and you can hot glue some fancy pasta pieces together to make a fancy pendant. Then just add the pendant to the middle of the necklace. The little princess will look just grand!
If you want a glittery tiara, you can use a spray glue over the entire tiara then cover the tiara with glitter. This can be a messy job, so be sure you protect your work surface. When the glitter and glue are dry, you can then spray the entire tiara with varnish to hold all the glitter on the tiara. Then there is no mess.
