On Tuesday night in a Boston hotel room a women was murdered. The victim was 26 year old Julissa Brisman who resided in New York City. Brisman was fatally shot while inside her room at the Marriott Copley Place Hotel. Brisman was a model that had a criminal past. Brisman who worked at Macy's in June of 2002 was arrested for stealing $3,763 worth of merchandise. The same suspect is wanted in connection to a robbery just one week earlier in another Boston Hotel room. Brisman was allegedly offering "massage services" through the website cragislist.com. The robbery victim also advertised her "massage services" on the craigslist.com website.
Late Thursday night, in Warwick, Rhode Island, a city outside of Providence, a woman was also held at gunpoint and bound by a plastic cord. This incident also took place in a hotel room. Police say that the incident happened at the Holiday Inn Express in their city. This woman who was a 26 year old Las Vegas woman was offering sex for money according to Stephen McCartney Chief of the Warwick Police. Rhode Island law does not criminalize indoor prostitution. Rhode Island legislators are currently trying to fix this loophole in the law. The suspect that responded to this ad for sex for hire fled the scene when the woman's husband returned to the hotel room. The woman's husband did chase the suspect from the room and then returned to check on his wife for her safety. The woman was "shaken up" but not injured according to McCartney but not hurt in any way.
The attacks in Boston and in Warwick all seem to have many similarities according to police. The suspect in all three incidents was a white male about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. The police have obtained a surveillance video from all the hotels and are reviewing the tapes. Boston police and Warwick police are still investigating. The suspect is claimed to be utilizing the craigslist website to find his victims that are advertising adult services.
