Craigslist was started by a guy name Craig in San Francisco Bay, California. It started out as an online classified section that was free for jobs, selling household items and vehicles. Since then it has grown worldwide.
Searching Craigslist is easy to do. Navigation is broken down into states first, allowing you to choose your city, or the city nearest to you. Then next choose what you are looking for. You can search for jobs, homes, apartments, or cars for your area. There is a community listing there for lost and found, rideshares, and numerous other things.
With Craigslist you don't have to list your personal home number they have it set up so you are assigned an email link in the ads that people can click on to reply. If you are searching for a job, you can write a summary, without posting your resume, and have the potential employer send you an email without every giving up your identity.
Craigslist has categories for many different items. Even if you don't have money, there is a barter category and a free category you can choose from.
They are personal ads, if you click on these ads you have to agree to a disclaimer that you are over 18 to continue. They do have a safe sex tip forum, and a few tips about safe sex.
They have forums where you can go and chat with other Craiglisters and visitors. The forums are in categories also.
Every category you click on has some ads in it. They are sorted by date that they are uploaded to the website. It is easy to add an ad to the site. The only ads that cost money are job postings in several cities, and brokered housing posts in New York. Every time you do list something, the rules are listed prior to you posting.
While Craigslist website itself has no photos ad posters can upload their own photos for the ads that they put on. The website isn't really pretty, actually it's pretty bland, but with the easy navigation, the amount of ads on Craigslist, the website doesn't need it. This website is easy to navigate, and find what you are looking for. There is even a search box that you can search through the ads in the city that you choose. It's a popular website that is very useful to a lot of people.
