Cranberry Pomegranate Vodka Martini for a New Year's Eve Party

Sarah Barr
Pomegranates are a favorite at my house around the holidays. With all the new pomegranate flavored foods and drinks, particularly vodka, out there it is easy to incorporate them into just about everything! My favorite Christmas and New Year's Eve cocktail is the Cranberry Pomegranate Vodka Martini (affectionately referred to in my house as the Cran-Pomtini!). But be careful, they're so delicious you might find yourself having a very holly jolly Christmas!

Cranberry Pomegranate Martini

2 oz. Pomegranate Vodka

3 oz. Cranberry juice

Top off with Sprite or 7Up

Shake in martini shaker and pour into martini glass. Add fresh pomegranate. The little red postules make the sparkling drink beautiful and for a contrasting color garnish the rim of the glass with a lime wedge. Enjoy!

Since the cranberry and pomegranate have a tart taste, serve this drink with something sweet. Chocolate compliments pomegranate very well. For an easy treat that the whole family will enjoy, serve chocolate pudding in individual servings and sprinkle generously with pomegranates. For something a bit more decadent order Pomegranate Rose Chocolate Truffles from www.fatturkeychocolate.com based in Austin, Texas. These dark chocolate truffles are filled with chocolate pomegranate rose ganache. They come prepackaged in a gift box for giving or for looking beautiful on your holiday dessert table. You can order a dozen handmade truffles for about $27.

To really set the festive mood for your New Year's Eve party, try adding whole pomegranates to fruit bowls and flower arrangements. Also fill votive candle holders with pomegranate postules to pillar candle arrangements for a fresh romantic look. The candlelight will glint off the liquid inside the postules and give off a sparkling red reflection! This year your New Year's Eve party is sure to be a success with this delicious vodka drink!
