Cranium Hullabaloo Game Gets Kids Moving

Afton Nelson
If you have a 3 year old or older child who loves to move around, Cranium Hullabaloo could be their new favorite game. Cranium Hullabaloo consists of 16 colored vinyl pads and 1 talking console. Simply spread the vinyl pads around the room and press the button on the console. The announcer will give directions for the kids to follow: Jump to a red, spin to vegetable, put your nose on a square. When the announcer says, "FREEZE", the player on the lucky pad wins and gets to do a victory jump, take a bow or, do a funky dance.

Kids love this game and it really helps to get their wiggles out and teaches them that moving around and exercising can actually be fun. The announcer's instructions get faster and faster as the game progresses and each round is pretty short, so most kids will have the chance to win once or twice. Also, the announcer periodically reminds the players that more than one person can be on the same pad. This really cuts down on fighting and arguing because the kids realize it's not a race, it's just fun.

Kids will be able to set up Hullabaloo with out any parental assistance, which adds to the game's value. How many games do you have that require more time setting up than they actually get played with?

Believe it or not, Cranium Hullabaloo is also fun for adults to play for a Family Game night. The game is simple, but not mind numbing and it gets everyone involved at the same level of experience. This is also a great game to pull out when friends come over and bad weather prevents them from playing outside.

Kids who have trouble identifying colors or shapes will be frustrated with Cranium Hullabaloo, but sometimes, all it takes is a helpful sibling or parent and they may catch on quickly.

Thankfully, there are no small pieces with this game to find their way to every nook and cranny in your home. As with other Cranium products, the box is nice and sturdy and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to fit all the pieces back correctly so the lid closes.

Cranium games are well made and tap into a part of children that more traditional games have ignored. Whether allowing for creativity, spatial reasoning, logic, or physical activity, Cranium games are a must for every family's game closet.

My 5 year old son just got this game for Christmas. We love it! Nice and active for an indoor game. Even the 2 year old was able to follow along for the colors and shapes. Lots of fun. Excellent review.

I just bought this game in March for a niece's birthday. We played it for a few hours and I was exhausted. Now, everytime I come over, it's "Aunt Amanda's here. Let's play the hulblu game." (My niece is still working on her verbal skills!

I've heard great things about this game and we actually bought it as a gift for our nieces and a family friend this past Christmas. My daughter is old enough now to play, and I think she would really enjoy it. We will have to buy one for her now, too! Great review.
