The basic plot of the movie is that the Verona (the antagonistic character played by Jose Pablo Cantillo) poisons Chev Chelios (the protagonist and main character played by Jason Statham) with a poison that acts when there is no adrenaline in the veins. Chelios has to keep his veins chock full of adrenaline, or else he will die. He does this in various ways, such as driving in police chases, shooting cops, and having sex. This movie is a lot of fun and excitement.
His main goal is to kill the man who poisoned him before he dies (which he will eventually do, regardless of how much adrenaline he can push). There are always some problems, such as when he is in public and broad daylight and he needs adrenaline. The only person he is with is his girlfriend. I think you can guess this one.
The screenplay for this movie is fantastic, even though it could be a little better if there were less swear words. Screenwriters who use swear words are cheating. They make writing simple and no matter whee you are in a scene, a swear fits.
I liked this movie a lot, but was unhappy with the gore. I found myself closing or constantly blinking my eyes during fight scenes. I didn't like seeing a man's hand chopped off, or a man's hand get caught in a sewing machine. These were not things I ever needed to imagine or see, but I now have. Granted, the gore is so obviously fake, it makes it much less creepy.
I would rate this movie a 7 out of 10. It was a good movie with an interesting plot, and I liked it a lot, but some of the scenes were just a bit much for me. If you do not like gore or very extreme sequences of action, this is not a movie you should see. It is a bit scary, and there is a little bit of creepiness in it.
CAUTION: This movie is definitely not appropriate for anyone under 16 years old. There are topless women and scenes of sexual intercourse. There is also a lot of gore.
