ITEMS YOU WILL NEED: You will need some red, white, and blue craft foam. You will also need scissors, glue, a hole punch and some red, white, and blue ribbon. There are many different kinds of 4th of July ribbons that you can find in craft stores to use for this fun and festive decoration or you can simply use plain red, white, and blue ribbons. You may also want to use 2 different size star cookie cutters to help get more perfect stars.
CREATING YOUR 4TH OF JULY DECORATIONS: To get started, you may want to use star shaped cookie cutters to trace stars onto the craft foam. Use two different sizes of cookie cutters so that you have two different sizes of stars. If you don't use cookie cutters, then you can simply free hand your stars with a pencil on the foam.
Next, cut the star shapes out of the foam. You will want at least 5 larger stars and 5 smaller stars for each one of these decorations that you want to make.
Once you have the stars all cut out, glue one small star onto a larger star that is a different color. Continue to glue all of the small stars onto the center of the large stars until you have them all glued together. Make sure to leave room to punch a hole in the top and bottom of each of the larger stars. You can punch the holes into the larger stars before or after you glue the small stars on.
Starting with the stars that you want at the top of your hanging decoration, tie a ribbon through the top of the star. This will be the ribbon that you will hang the decoration with, make sure the ribbon is long enough to hang the decoration with. Then you will tie a ribbon through the hole at the bottom of that star and through the hole at top of the next star that you want to connect and tie the ribbon. Continue with these steps until you have a string of 5 stars hanging down.
You can make these cute 4th of July decorations as short or as long as you would like. Using 5 stars for each decoration make them easy to make and easy to hang.
