Create a Budget that Gives You Flexibility to Splurge on Yourself a Little

If you have been adhering to a budget, it has probably been one that forces you to strictly control your spending so that once you get your paycheck, you make sure that you can pay all of your bills before deciding how much to spend on your family. This process is a worthy one to follow but if you are too rigid in the way you go through with it, you are likely to drive yourself crazy by not being flexible enough to indulge on yourself a little. By reading this article, you will learn how to create an individual budget that gives you room to splurge a little on yourself.

One thing you can do is set aside a small percentage of your earnings to put into your own bank account. Instead of being a joint account you share with your spouse, this will be your own personal account. This will be money you can spend as you please. The key is to only put about ten to twenty percent of your earnings into this account for now in order to make sure that you can comfortably pay all of your bills and take care of your family's needs.

If you do not treat yourself to something you crave at least once in a while, you are not likely to be happy. One item that usually fits into this category is food, as it is natural to get the urge to buy a delicious snack or dessert. One way you can come up with the money for this is to use your personal bank account. Another is to use a tiny percentage of your disposable income. For example, if you always have at least fifteen percent of your paycheck earnings remaining after you cover all of your necessary household expenses, it would be a good idea to spend about a third of that getting a food item you love.

You should also make sure that you do not miss out on participating in special recreational activity or treating yourself to a special form of entertainment. It helps to set aside enough money to do something such as going roller skating alone or with friends at least once or twice a month. If you want to see a certain movie or performance on a certain date, you should factor the cost of it into the personal budget you create at the beginning of a month.

Follow these steps to create a budget that enables you to splurge on yourself a little!
