Create Fabulous Holiday Decorations for Less

If you shop at the right times and hit clearance sales you can often get the components you need to make handmade gifts and decorations at a very good value. All you need is a hot glue gun and an eye for style to create fabulous decorations at a fraction of the cost that is takes to buy them.

One example of this is just last year I made four gorgeous wreaths for just over $20.00. I made one for myself and the others were gifts. Bargain shopping for good quality items is the key to this. To make these wreaths you will need four nice wreaths that are 24 inches. I got mine at Michaels on clearance for $2.00 each. You need ornaments. Colors and styles are all personal preference but I got a huge bucket of ornaments at Old Navy on clearance for just $3.97. You need four spools of wired ribbon that is two or three inches wide and at least, 3 yards long. I found mine at Pat Catans for $1.00 a spool. You need lights. I got the clear 50 count white lights for $1.00 a strand. Lastly, you need berry sprays and clusters. You will need eight berry clusters and eight berry sprays. I found these at Michaels for 4/$1.00 on clearance.

The matching garland is just as easy to make for a great price. You can make a 9 foot garland for your fireplace or an 18 foot garland for a 6 foot door way. This is what you will need to make the 18-foot garland. You will need two 9-foot sections of garland. These can be gotten after Christmas for about $4 to $5 each. You need the bucket of ornaments from Old Navy. I like these because they are solid colors and because you get a variety of sizes in the bucket. I used garland instead of ribbon for this. Again, I got mine after Christmas for just over $1.00 a package. Just coordinated your colors. I got two 18-foot packages of garland and had some left over. You need two packages of 100 lights. Make sure you get the ones that can plug into one another. You will need eight berry clusters and eight berry sprays. Lastly, you will need Mistletoe to put in the middle of the doorway.

These are detailed lists of the things you need to make two fabulous Christmas decorations. Once you have all the components you need just use you imagination and create.
