This ice flower bowl centerpiece is an unique piece that will be the conversation of your tables. You could use this for a wedding reception centerpiece. The wonderful thing is that it is vibrant, modern, and full of color. You will want to keep it in the freezer; however, until right before guests arrive, so that it doesn't melt too soon. Follow these steps to create your ice flower bowl.

ITEMS NEEDED:

To make this ice flower bowl you will need a large bowl that is about 10 to 12 inches across. You will also need a slightly smaller bowl that will fit down inside the large bowl. Next, you will need rose flower petals that match the color of your wedding. You will also need the green rose leaves, but you can remove the stems. If you do not want to use rose petals you could use substitute any kind of flower you wish for this centerpiece. Finally, you will need clean water and a freezer.

CREATE YOUR ICE FLOWER BOWL:

First, you will want to fill the bottom of your larger bowl with a little bit of water in the bottom and place a few rose petals and rose leaves down in it. You will have to complete the freezing process in stages. Then place the smaller bowl down on top of the water. Place a weight into the small bowl to hold it down better. Now freeze this for about a half hour, until it is semi-frozen.

Next, add a little more water between the bowls, drop your rose petals and leaves into the unfrozen water. Place a weight heavy enough to hold the small bowl down into place inside of the small bowl. Now freeze for another half hour. When it comes out, do not remove the small bowl, simply add a enough water to completely fill the bowl up and add your rose petals and leaves to this section of water, then finish the freezing for at least an hour this time.

When it comes out of the freezer completely frozen, you can remove the small bowl, then carefully remove the ice bowl from the larger bowl, and you will see the beautiful rose petals and leaves showing through the ice. Set it in the center of your tables, and do not use candles with this centerpiece. You may want to set these bowls on larger platters to prevent water from running onto the tables when they start to melt.
