Create a Memory Book to Honor the Life of Your Deceased Loved One

There are many ways to honor a deceased loved one. There are many ways to remember a deceased loved one. However, creating a memory book that details the fun and love that the two of you shared is a wonderful idea. The memory book can be shared with others. It gives your children an insight on the person that they may never have gotten a chance to meet.

I was very close to my father. His death made a great impact on my life. I felt the need to do something to symbolize how special our relationship really was.

After my father passed away, I decided to create a memory book featuring his life. I began by collecting pictures. I had many and I also asked family members to help by looking through their pictures.

I began with the earliest pictures that I could find. There were not many. Most of them were of his school and army days. I placed these on the same page and gave captions such as "My Daddy's Early Years..."

I then moved to the next major milestone in his life, getting married. On this page, I featured pictures of my mom and dad together as well as a wedding picture. I wrote a caption such as "Dad meets Mom" and I also put the date of their marriage.

I then moved to pictures of my daddy with each child as a baby. I listed the name and date that each child was born.

I added pictures of family vacations, holidays, and other significant events. I wrote a brief caption of what the picture was about.

I then searched for verses and sayings. I added the poem about the first Christmas in Heaven on the holiday page. I also wrote a few of my own poems.

What I think makes my book more special than others is the fact that I also added items of my father's and items that he gave to me. I found a Valentine's card that he gave me and a note that he had written me. I put those in the book. I also added his letter from playing football in high school and an empty pack of his cigarettes.

These things are reminders of his life.

Making a memory book to detail and highlight a loved one's life can be a treasure for your family to keep and pass on forever.
