Create a Mother's Day Adventure She Won't Forget
How to Fashion a Treasure Hunt for Those Mother's Day Gifts
Geocaching is an outdoor activity enjoyed by thousands of people across the globe. It is a sport that combines the use of modern technology, adventure, and the great outdoors. If you have never geocached, it is very inexpensive and uncomplicated. You can learn all about the activity on the Geocaching website.
A typical geocaches is made up of a waterproof container of various sizes, filled with "swag" (trinkets, coins, souvenirs, etc.) and a log book. It is hidden from the general public'ss (muggles) view, either in the wilderness or an urban setting. Creating a Mother's Daygeocachess is very simple, taking only a few steps.
The first step is creating the cache. Ammo cans from your local Army surplus store is very common. You can also use Tupperware, Rubbermaid, or any waterproof container. Ammo cans are popular because you can paint them camouflage, which can be any combination of colors. For Mother's Day you may want to go with a "heart-shaped" camouflage pattern!
The "swag" you choose to put into the cache is the fun part of this project. Pictures drawn by the kids, mini roses, or jewelry would be good choices. You can put anything you want into the cache. How about the keys to a new car? Read the guidelines on theGeocachingg website. Don't put dangerous things (weapons, ammunition, knives) or food items (will attract animals) into the cache.
The next step is to hide the cache. It may be a fun place you have enjoyed as a family or her favorite local park. The location is often what makes the game so fun. Make it special. Hide the cache (don't bury it, again refer to the guidelines) and collect the coordinates with a hand-held Global Positioning System receiver GPSrr).
After she has found the cache, you can recover the cache and never publish it or you can publish it on Geocaching.com for other geocachers to enjoy. When you publish the cache, you can tell the story behind the cache on the cache page, memorializing a wonderfully celebrated Mother's Day!
