Create an Online "Red Kettle" for the Salvation Army to Help Those in Need
Lending a Helping Hand This Holiday Season is Just a Click Away
The Salvation Army has initiated the "Online Red Kettle Campaign." This is a page online that an individual, organization, school, group, or business can host to set a donation goal and accept donations. Anyone can open an online Red Kettle page. Whomever does customizes it to their own settings, including layout and text, the goal you have, and the message you want to give to your donors.
There are personal kettles for individuals. You may send out emails to friends and family that will invite them to contribute to your Red Kettle. There is a thermometer that tracks the progress of your goal. You may put any message you choose on your page to welcome donations. The Salvation Army also has banners you may use to put on your Myspace, Facebook, or other social networking sites or as a signature to generate traffic to your Online Red Kettle page.
There are group kettles for organizations, groups, schools, etc. This allows the groups members to have individual kettles for fund raising that will also reflect on the groups Online Red Kettle goal as a whole.
There are also Business kettles. These Online Red Kettles have goals that are "reflected in real time." Links to business kettles are emailed to the company to be sent to employees, co-workers, vendors, and customers.
It doesn't cost any money to set up an Online Red Kettle. Donors are also sent an electronic gift acknowledgment in PDF format that can be used as a tax receipt.
There are plenty of people this holiday season who could benefit from the Salvation Army. The holidays are a great time to utilize the spirit of giving by extending an hand to those in need.
This is a great cause for the person who doesn't have the time to volunteer this holiday season. The Online Red Kettle Campaign is a great way to raise money. No one has to leave their house or cubicle to contribute or donate. Anyone can start one, and it is very simple to spread the word.
