This is a unique, yet simple idea to create a vase for your spring flower centerpieces for your dining table. It is colorful and pretty for spring. The yellow pencils work really well to brighten up your spring table and compliment most spring flowers very well also. Get into the spring spirit and create your own pencil vase, by following these steps.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

First you will need about 25 to 50 pencils per vase. Simply pick these up at a dollor store to save money if you would like. Next, you will need flowers, red roses especially look pretty in this pencil vase; however, you could use any spring flowers that you choose. You will also need some little green florist tubes for the ends of your flowers to get water. Then you will need some rubber bands and twine to tie the pencil vase up with.

DESIGN YOUR PENCIL VASE:

Once you have your supplies you can design your pencil vase. First, cut the stems of your flowers down so that they are the same length as your pencils. Next, you will place your water tubes on the ends of your flowers so that they will live longer and not wilt as fast. Once you have your flowers stems prepared, you can start putting the pencils around the bunch of flowers. Try to get an even amount of pencils all they way around the outside of the flower stems.

Once you have the pencils where you want them, you may need a little help. You will want to place a rubber band securely half way up the pencils, to hold them in place. Once the pencils are held into place by the rubber band you can tie a pretty bow around the pencils with your twine. If the rubber band is showing through the twine once your twine is tied on, simply cut the rubber band with a pair of scissors and pull it off of the vase. This is all there is to making a pencil vase that is beautiful on your spring table.
