Sending Christmas cards to family and friends during the holidays is a tradition that goes back years and years. As long as there have been post offices and mailboxes, people have been sending Christmas cards to one another for the holiday season. Another tradition is to send photos in Christmas cards of a family photo or favorite Christmas photo. Here are some ideas to make a Christmas photo card this year that everyone will love:

SCRAPBOOK CARD: You can make your own very personalized photo card right at home. Simply get some scrapbooking supplies, like special paper and photo border cutters or scissors. Get some photo glue or tape. Buy some cute card stock paper to make your cards with. Find some cute whimsical Christmas cutouts to add inside the cards as well. For example, if you are taking a family photo in front of the Christmas tree to put on the front of the card, then find a cute little "Christmas tree" cutout to glue inside of the card as well, to kind of carry the theme throughout the card. Another idea is to use a family vacation photo on the beach, for example, on the front of your Christmas card. Then you could add a little "palm tree" scrapbooking cutout to the inside of the card. Using scrapbooking supplies to make your personalized Christmas cards is an excellent idea, because you can use the pre-made scrapbook stickers with sayings on them for Christmas if you do not want to write inside the card yourself. Make your scrapbooking card fun and cute, adding a border or multiple borders around your photo on the front to make it fun and festive.

ONLINE CARDS: Another way to make your own personalized photo Christmas cards is to use a site such as Shutterfly or even Walgreen web site. Using sites like this, you simply download your pictures and then you can pick from many scenes and borders to add to your personalized cards. This is an easy way to do it, because you can simply type the words that you want to say in your cards and they will be neatly printed on the cards. You can then pick up the cards or have them shipped to you and mail them out individually to all of your friends and family.

CARD QUOTES: If you cannot think of what to say in your Christmas cards, look at cards in stores or online to get ideas of sayings that are popular or fitting for the season. Like, "Wishing your a warm Christmas season" or "Sending your Christmas greetings for a prosperous holiday season and new year".

SPECIAL PHOTOS: You could also add very cute and special photos that no one would think of. For example, are you expecting a new baby and even though it's not here yet, you still want to include it in your cards? Why not put your ultrasound picture on the front of your cards. Or do you have a new baby that you want to send a picture of in your Christmas cards. Do something really cute with the baby, like wrap them in lit Christmas lights, with only a diaper on for a unique photo. You could also wrap them in tinsel or garland and put a bow on their head, then add a saying like, "We received the best Christmas gift this year already, hope yours is fantastic too". Make it unique and creative and simply have a lot of fun with it!
